Beautiful town. I just have one question, does no one own a lawnmower or Weedwhacker? This is July and the lawns and junk in the yards make the houses look so rundown. What a couple gallons of paint and some pride in your property would do for this town

I had the pleasure to spend half a day in Mayo in 2016. And few days in Whitehorse too. My friend and I flew from Mayo to the start of a glorious canoe trip. Mayo is the definition of a town in the middle of nowhere.

I honestly would love to live here, but they are not open for immigration, unfortunately.. I mean, to build up this province, more people are needed especially ones that are skilled.. So I don't know why they would refuse to accept immigrants.. What is the reason though?

Thank you, Steve. I lived in the Yukon for almost 20 years and 5 of them were in the Log Skyscraper. I miss it sometimes, and am particularly happy to see here they are making an effort to give downtown some character.

I think this highway needs to upgrade to a triple lane one. There's always a lot of traffic on either Halifax or Truro end, and so many cars hog the passing lane. It's ridiculous.

I was there, in Marshalltown, the day they loaded Maud's little house on a flatbed, headed to Halifax. I took photos, as editor of the Digby Courier, and I felt a pain in my heart for this sweet woman who suffered so much and would never know the heights of her eventual popularity. I met people with hoards of her paintings, laughing and proud they bought them for 50 cents years earlier, and now they were beyond value. And I thought of how she should have been the one to have benefitted, at least financially, from her talent, tenacity and will to go on. Love you Maudie. <3
