I always crochet several extra after I'm done, and then I know that's the end to unzip from. Although I like the idea of the knot.

blurry video, using sock yarn is so small that it was difficult to see, especially as the quality of the video was poor

It's a nice looking finish, but so much fiddling! I have invented my own short row heels & toes, so much easier and smoother than any others I've seen. Now I just need to learn how to make a video!

I'm using this technique for making bust darts on sweaters so I can make them close fitting. But since bust isn't at at right angle like a sock heel, I turn at *every other stitch* instead of every st so the angle is halved, 45° instead of 90°.So in Phase 1 I have groups of 3 (yo+st+st) on the needle instead of groups of 2 (yo+st). In Phase 2 when the stitches on hold are being knitted up one row at a time, the st that doesn't have a yo, is knitted right after the K or P3tog, and then turn and yo. This way the 2 yos (the old one and the new one) will be next to each other as per original Priscilla's recipe. I have already made 2 sweaters for my C-cup self with this short row recipe and the result is quite handsome and I highly recommend it!

I've knitted several practice pieces with this short row method because the result is very nice. It helps a lot to see it done, after reading the painstaking instructions in the book. So thanks a bunch. And btw, I purl like you do, lol!

this is a good video, but I am still not able to loop the yarn properly to tighten the center using Emily Ockers method. Please show slowly how to loop yarn to loop stitched onto crochet hook. Thanks.

This is just what I need for my next project - knitting mitre squares from the centre with increases at each corner. So much easier and neater than casting directly onto needles. Your directions are very clear and easy to follow.

Can you use this cast on as a permanent cast on? I like the look of the crochet stitches along the edge, and it looks alot more similar to the cast off I've learned from my grandmother.
@juliacochrane2599
@juliacochrane2599 4 ай бұрын
Yep. I did that for the project I'm working on now. Just use the project yarn instead of scrap yarn. Don't do the couple of extra stitches at the beginning. Cast on one less than you need, and put the last loop from the crochet hook onto the needle for the last stitch of the cast-on. Start knitting!

THanks for this info. I have been struggling for about a week now on how to get started with the DPN's and you have made it very clear and easy how to do that. Thank you so much. I actually just did the magic loop method (1st way) and I did it, I actually was able to continue knitting in the round! The magic loop in crochet is done that exact way you showed, someone said you did it backwards but it's not. Thanks again!!!
