And for the third game with the bounce on osf it was at end step so osf could only play at instant speed for win, that why he can't do the full combo.
@bitzelberg2 күн бұрын
Thanks for clarifying, that makes sense!
@grimgorlefort3 күн бұрын
Ludovic knows the matchup again osf. But he has an agressive version of Aragorn (good for switching with satya), so he'd rather keep agressives hands than try to gamble controling hands that could easily be disrupted.
@marteninfinite2 күн бұрын
Dafuq, literally no one in the recorded Aragorn decklists from the last month switches with Satya.
@bitzelberg2 күн бұрын
@@marteninfinite when Satya was released there was a huge debate whether or not it would enrich the deck as a potential swap against certain matchups, but it requires the deck do be designed much more aggressive which can be a downside when playing on Aragorn. @gimgorlefort as I said, it doesn't make any sense to mul down to "effective hands" against OSF, since they are going to discard it anyways. So you'd rather stick to your suboptimal 7 instead of searching an answer in 5 which is then removed by Thoughtseize and alike!

Why show your hand to your opponent like that? Memory is a skill, why give an easy out to your opponent lol? I always want my opponent to forget the cards they saw so I try to confuse them after they see my hand, becuase it Reminds me of the pro players from the 90s who played the game better and more exciting (like pro poker players). Might as well let them take a pic on their phone next time lol
@bitzelberg15 күн бұрын
That's no tournament gameplay, no need for that.
@treycuret14 күн бұрын
Is Magic a memory game or a strategy game? The alternative is to write down every card, which slows the game down tremendously amongst two buddies playing. Pros do the same thing when information is known - watch every single Nadu game from the PT this weekend. Modern day poker players would eviscerate 90s poker players btw.

@treycuret13 күн бұрын
@@tcgmetaslayer4202 MtG isn't a memory game 😂 Open decklists and the writing down cards (which every tournament up to and including Pro Tours) remove some of the accounting aspect of Magic. The game doesn't test revealed information - it's treated as known. The way your tournament does it probably allows for some weird angle shooting (ie. good luck against Bryant Cook's foil Japanese alternate art storm deck) and weirdly might take MORE time in that players are having to play a sub game of navigating effects that reveal hands. Honestly though, I love that there are so many different ideas on what the game is supposed to look like. It is sweet that there's someone treating Magic like a game of Concentration.

One does not complain to free counterspells when you draw every single of graveyard hate in your deck.
@lamjeri20 күн бұрын
Free counterspells break the game's tempo in such a way that it's perfectly fine to complain about it whenever you get the chance.
@atilalexander19 күн бұрын
@@lamjeri They are perfectly fine when they cost 2 cards, but they were not designed for singleton formats, it is more a thing to stop combos that can gain you some tempo in other cases. The real problem lies when there are too many of those, like the damn evoke elementals. Aminatou doesn't recoup such card loss and the graveyard hate cycle itself. He only needed a couple of more lands and he would have been in a great position.
@lamjeri19 күн бұрын
@@atilalexander I have to disagree. It breaks one of the fundamental game mechanics - you pay mana to cast stuff. Any free spell which was ever printed that had a semi-playable effect always became either a staple in eternal formats, or it got banned there. In a game where eternal formats devolve into playing 1 drops, you're pushing the curve even lower by allowing to play even earlier. Funny how you mentioned that it was a thing to stop combos. At the same time, it's an absolutely lethal weapon in the hands of combo decks, because it allows them to go off sooner, as they don't have to keep mana up for protection if needed. Card disadvantage doesn't matter if the opponent gets so far ahead, or wins on the spot. Fury and Force of despair got so far that they even designed the card in a way, that you can mitigate the cards disadvantage, or gain card advantage even.
@atilalexander17 күн бұрын
@@lamjeri Things have escalated so much out of the norm that drops 1 and 2 mitigate the 2x1 from those cards. In theory, you shouldn't be able to run off with such card disadvantage but they also shet on the game when they print cards like Urza's Saga and The One Ring. It seams my knowledge of the game, of what it used to be, is not relevant anymore.
@bitzelberg17 күн бұрын
I think the newest free-spell cycle is a FAIR way of designing those cards, while many other cards - especially the elementals - are pretty much out of hand. To me having "the sideboard cards" vs. "interacting with it for free" is a different debate.

I really like these games where you feature different decks. To comment on overall quality of the videos, have you considered getting a pair of somekind of mics that would be placed on the shirt of each player? I mean, the sound has been irritating me the whole time I have been watching these videos. In this video everything hitting the table makes a huge boom and is unbearable with headphones. Just a thought to grab mics that would be pointy and mostly grab the speaking sound. Keep up the good work and hopefully you can get the sound to work for us headphone users as well!

nanogene conversion might be really good here. if i understand the rules correctly it exponentionally increases the number of total nadu triggers each turn. right now the total is the number of creatures in play times two. i think nanogene gives you a total number of nadu triggers per turn equal to the number of creatures in play squared and then that gets multiplied by 2. so with 3 creatures is think nanogene increases the number of naud triggers per turn from 6 to 18 and with 4 creatures the total is 32. does anyone know if my math checks out?
