I am installing a 24KW. My house has a 225A service. Do I size the ATS for the service (225A) or for the generator (100A)?

Hay looks great!!! How’s that RK37 going? Do you like it? Have you had any problems with it being under powered?

I can’t complain, it is a decent little tractor. It runs my hay baler fine, and does pretty much everything I need it to do. Sometimes I wish I would’ve gotten the 55hp just for a little extra lift capacity but it does a good job.

No comments about the torque required for tightening the many connections! The installation manual gives those specs. Why didn't you mention the importance of following the manual?

While it certainly looked as if you knew what you were doing, WHY NO COMMENTS as you were doing the various things? Total silence for much of the time! If this was supposed to inform a viewer how an ATS is installed, it could be easily imiproved.

I just watched you do a voltage check on the battery. 13.6 volts is because it still has the battery charger attached since that isn't controlled by the off switch. Correct voltage testing should have had the cables disconnected. A carbon pile load tester should have been included.

Fuel consumption is in the owner's manual and usually expressed as gallons per hour at 50% and 75% load. Ballpark on these is around 2 gallons per hour, which is 50% load, and is typical when sized correctly for a home. The extra capacity is for start loads on motors, like well pumps, AC, etc. Yeah, it's only a second or two, but the life of the unit will be greatly extended if you are not running it flat out all the time. Think about that from the perspective of your car, which will go over 100 MPH, but you usually drive about half that speed. The rest is for climbing hills and hauling a heavy load from time to time.

My son in law is an electrician. Tuesday night, he hooked up two large generators to the business that my daughter works at. They had to wait for these large generators to be shipped from Atlanta Georgia to just outside of Tallahassee Florida. It took them nearly all night to get them hooked up and running. My wife and I are having a house built and an standby generator installed. Guess who will be installing it. LOL.

Out of this entire video, I'm only shocked by the 50 gallon HWH with having 12 kids and 2 adults! And elec HWH at that, with poor/slow recovery vs gas. I have myself and my wife and a large home and have an 80 gal gas LOL.

There is soo much unsaid: 1-Generak requires maintenance every 100h. This maintenance should be done every 100h. So it’s yearly only of you don’t need your generator and only put 8h a month on it. There is 168h in a week. Meaning, if you run your generator 24/7, you need to do this twice a week. I never saw any other engine with such a short useful life. Most modern generator are like this. 2-dropping water and bicarbonate on both battery poles creates a closed electrical circuit. That’s not how you should clean battery poles because you have no control over the amount of current in play. Also, if the bicarbonate fall in the battery, it will neutralize the acid, killing the battery. 3-testing a battery is tricky. Voltage tells a lot but not everything. A 12V car battery will sit between 12.2 V and 12.6V at rest. If it just came off the alternator charge, it should sit between 14.2V and 14.6V. It will not maintain this voltage for long. Every cell in a 12V battery is 2V. Meaning, at rest you get 12V, 10V, 8V… having 13V, 11V, 9V is highly suspicious. It only happens if you test the battery after a discharge event and fail to charge it back. See point 2. 4- To properly test your battery, use a battery load tester, like car mechanics use when testing your battery. This insure that it can produce the necessary current to start the engine. 5- regularly charge your battery. Car batteries are not meat to hold a charge for months. It takes at lest 20mn to charge.

Worked 40+ years for a lawn Mower MFG that was bought out by B&S, one day we got a shipment in our Ga. warehouse straight from the Savannah port, we opened the trailer door and there was OVER 5 well known U.S. brand names on the boxes of ALL generators, and the kicker was they ALL came out of the same MFG plant in CHINA

Wonder how long those China engines will last, IF I bought one of those new I'd require a COMPLETE parts Illustration & list & then do research on the MOST FAILED parts, then take that list and buy THOSE parts to keep on the shelf, those things are NO GOOD if you can get those overseas parts for whatever reason & I'd bet my SS check that NO distributor / seller keeps all parts in stock
