There is a common misconception about shows getting good. But the shows are not getting good in the middle of the season. Only between seasons when the writers / film-makers learn their lessons and make next season better. What happens usually in the middle of the season is a viewer getting more and more engaged with the show. Making more and more familiar with the characters and the world. And liking it more and more because of it.

Always good to see someone getting into this show. I myself actually didn't know the show existed when I saw Serenity. After seeing the movie I got ahold of the series as soon as I could. And I fell in love with the show as much as I fell in love with Serenity. Everything about Firefly and Serenity were amazing. A lot of shows start off kind of wonky because the actors are still getting into their roles and learning just as much about the feel and direction of the show as the audience. This is one of the rare shows where I felt like I knew these people (characters I know) for years. It seems like you've enjoyed it so far and I hope you continue to do so. I'm also assuming you haven't seen Serenity. If that is the case I can't wait for you to see it.

Yes, Mal is quick tempered and a bit impulsive but he’s a hell of a leader and has a will made of iron, which you will see more of later. Enjoyed the reaction. Looking forward to more.

In the follow-up novels River liked being around Zoe and Wash, she was comforted by their love for one another. I loved Kaylee becoming the center of attention at the ball.

Inara saying "We're all running from something, I suppose" is the beginning of a storyline that Joss Whedon had for Inara. He drops these hints about all the characters and planned to tell the storyline of each character over the first 2 or 3 seasons of the show. He never got the chance to go into depth because the show was cancelled. All we have is Joss talking at some of the Firefly reunions about where the storylines were intended to go. The movie Serenity made 3 years after the show was cancelled got a chance to fully develop just a few of the questions you'll be asking about relationships, pasts, and Reavers. I would advise you to always pay attention to what River says. She speaks softly but she sees things in a different way, but not by choice.

Welcome to "Firefly," a just-after-the-turn-of-the-21st century Fox TV show that was disrespected, re-ordered, kicked around the network broadcast schedule like an unwanted dog, and tossed into the dumpster by clueless idiots. First up, a 90 minute pilot that was broadcast last as a final FU to Joss Whendon. (Not enough action!?) Replaced by the normal length episode, "The Train Job." As one of the few who saw it in real time, I didn't see all of "Firefly" until I bought the DVD set. Note: Every time a KZfaq viewere falls in love with "Firefly," a Fox TV executive falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building.;)

Yeah, Earth's resources were used up so humans had to emigrate outwards. Not sure if you noticed, the 2 govt. guys at the end were both wearing blue gloves.

They are salvagers, not ravagers. The Alliance weren't looking for them in particular, it's just that salvaging is illegal. A little more world lore - The Alliance runs things but their presence is stronger around the central core planets. The outer rim planets are on the edge of civilized space and are mostly independently run. The outer rim is populated by poor settlers, outlaws and is near reaver space. A lot of the people in the outer rim are there because they don't want to be under the boot heel of the Alliance and prefer freedom instead. The war was fought between the Alliance and the Independents (or brown coats). The Alliance won the war and retained control.

If you remember the was scene of E1, Mal is wearing a cross around his neck that he kisses. The outcome of the war caused him to lose his faith in God.

A little background info without spoiling anything. This is a space western. They speak Chinese, and if you noticed, they ate with chopsticks. In this universe the two superpowers from earth, the US and China, have over the centuries melded into one culture. It also makes it so the characters can curse without being flagged by the censors. I hope you stick with it, it will become a favorite series. Well, almost series…it was canceled mid-season without being allowed to finish out season 1. 3 episodes never even aired. A couple of years later the feature film Serenity ties up the loose ends that were left by the abrupt end of the show.

The TV executives didn't like the pilot. Joss and Tim wrote this episode over the weekend. This episode was aired first.

It's a wonderful movie! It has become a beloved Christmas classic. However, it was denounced by the FBI as Communist propaganda after its release. They claimed the movie displayed poor old Mister Potter, the Banker, as grasping and greedy when he was just being a fine American Capitalist. Oddly enough, neither the FBI nor the movie itself ever denounced him for stealing the $8,000 that Uncle Billy lost. I guess, since he was an upstanding Capitalist, it was a simple case of "Finders keepers, losers weepers," huh?

Afaik the only thing thats copyrighted in arcane is the imagine dragons song, cuz Riot Games doesn't own the rights for that but does for everything else, so editing/excluding the intro+cameo mid ep5 should be enough to avoid cp claims.

Also, in The Comics Blade is Catholic(As I was raised, not really all that much of a believer anymore though) both Wesley Snipes who plays him in the Blade Trilogy and Mahershala Ali who will portray The Character in his upcoming appearances in The MCU are Muslims.

The real Imhotep did not live anywhere near the same time as Seti I nor Anaksunamun and Nefertiti(Whom Evie`s first life Nefertiri is based on). He was the High Priest to Djoser, not Seti who came long after his time actually. For all these accomplishments, Imhotep gained the distinction of being one of the few non-royals in Egypt to be deified after death so contrary to his mummification IRL being a punishment as the Film depicts, it was actually a great honor.

La Magra was created for The Film but most likely was a composite of Chthon, a demon god who created The Darkhold(MARVEL`s mystical Book of The Damned often associated with Mephisto, Ghost Rider, Agatha Harkness and Scarlet Witch in both The Comics and MCU) and corrupted prehistoric humans into the first supernatural vampires to spite the Celestials whose ability to create life whilst he could only corrupt, possess and destroy he envied, Selene(Yes, the "Underworld" character was named and based on her), a vampiric mutant who was a rival for Apocalypse for the claim of being first mutant for a while until Apocalypse was confirmed to be the first mutant and Selene was revealed to be one of his first Horsemen of Death who later branched out on her own, founding the Hellfire Club and becoming the first Black Queen and Varnae, the first vampire in The Comics created through a union of Chthon and the Mother of All Demons Lilith, not to be confused with Dracula`s teenaged daughter of the same name .

Also, Frost in The Comics had a unique ability to create vampiric doppelgangers of those he bit under his control so if it makes you feel any better, the vampire version of Vanessa Brooks most likely was not the real one.

Frost in The Comics was basically a mix of Morbius(Mad scientist who became a vampire in a lab accident involving bat blood)and Dragonetti(The old German dude who turned Frost in The Film).

In The Comics, Blade was created in the Tomb of Dracula miniseries as a vampire-hunting John Shaft character for MARVEL, Wesley Snipes was also considered to play Black Panther before the MCU when New Line still had the rights to the character, Blade was their second choice after a guest appearance on "Spider-Man:The Animated Series" (Which introduced Blade`s film mentor Abraham Whistler to MARVEL fans as well as the iconic buzzcut and leather jacket) . Originally, he was a normal human vampire hunter immune to vampire bites, over time The Comics updated him to be more like his Film Counterpart. They did the same thing when the SPIKE TV Show based on The Films starring Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones started airing.

Charlotte/Charlie is technically a Hellborn Nephilim, her father`s a fallen angel and her mother`s the first and most powerful corrupted mortal soul in Hell. That also kinda makes Adam her ex father in law.

Lilith was Adam`s first wife whom God turned into a demon as a punishment for not letting Adam be on top in sex and pronouncing the Holy Name which for Jews was a big no-no. Eve was made from Adam`s rib later.
