Actually the engine is not getting too much air when it is not running off choke, it is not getting enough fuel. The choke creates a small vacuum behind and allows the engine to suck more fuel out of the jet. Usually if your engine does not run off choke the jet is partially clogged.

I had the same problem and just removed the air filter and blew the cleaner spray in the air intake pipe and it got fixed right away

Hello stupid question I haven’t been able to answer, but how do you change the oil in one of these things? I can’t find the owners manual online.

I take the plastic valve apart and clean everything. Also taking the 3 screws out of the recoil and getting it out of the way makes things a little easier and you'll be able to see all of the linkage and you don't have to fight but being able to see but I'm old and need all the light and space I can get lol. Battery tools are basically a must for saving time. 1/4" impact and ratchet are my to to along with 3/8" and then to air if needed. Great video.

Watched your video and thanks for it. I have backfires out the exhaust and intake both. My flywheel key is good, I took the head off, cleaned it and lapped the valves. My compression went from 60 to 82. Valves did not look bent at all. Lapping looked good on both valves and head. I’m missing something. Wondering about just replacing the head and valves. This is a 420 cc champion engine.

I own an RV Repair business and I absolutely love Onan generators. They are a cash cow for my business. I have been in business for 41 years and are set up to make the repairs easier than for most repair technicians. We keep a number of reconditioned Onan's in inventory and offer to swap the customers problem gen set for one of our reconditioned units for s set price. This way we can bench their unit and repair it at our leisure. Love your vids :)

@@yeetandskeet have you let any gas with ethanol sit for more then 10 months without water forming? The ethanol is what puts it in the gasoline. Ethanol is only meant to put a shelf life on gasoline. You used to be able to stockpile gas, not anymore. The big daddy govt said no.

If you’re going to continue to make repair videos you REALLY need your get a voltage meter. You’ll be able to test connections and components before putting r everything back to gather and attempting to see if it works by pulling the cord. There are plenty of professional, experienced videos that you can copy.
