2 and 3 were very harshly judged . 1 was an individual triumph but 2 and 3 built on the lore and i thought expanded on the story in a tasteful and organic way. Pirate lore is by design convoluted and hard to follow. I don’t know why Dean man’s chest and worlds end wasn’t as critically well received as Black Pearl. It is nice to see them receive more appreciation over the years

Davy Jones is proof that CGI can age well if the artists are actually not overworked and the director has a clear vision of what they want. Avatar is another example of 2000s CGI that has aged perfectly.
