In Ruth's day pitchers threw 60-70mph max. Most insanely difficult pitches like splitter, 90mph slider, etc didn't exist back then. It's just not the same game. Randy Johnson for instance, heck even Edwin Jackson or Victor Zambrano for instance would embarass Ruth if he stepped into a batters box today. If anybodys numbers deserve asterisks, his do
