Why did they have to go to Spain? Was there nowhere in Britain for them?
@woodlandtrust19 сағат бұрын
Hi, the programme in Spain was the best option as it was already planned and in motion and it has been incredibly fortuitous that the timing fits with the emergence of our crisis on the nest at Arkaig.

You all do such a wonderful job, our wildlife needs every little bit of help it can get. All of us need to do our bit, good luck to the chicks in Spain, it will help to save these beautiful birds and enrich their wildlife. Thank you team.

It seems this year nature is taking a bashing. I have no insects in my nature garden, its having a knock on affect for my birds and hedgehogs nothing to feed on. I have never bought so much food for them all, I am seriously worried about our wildlife, not one butterfly to count this year. I wish Louis and Dorcha all the best they give so much joy to us viewers. Well done team.

I can't help but wonder if the stress of trying to feed the 2 Bobs 🐥🐥 and Dorcha 🪶 through the terrible weather just wore Louis out 😐 Now he and Dorcha look much improved 🤩😘

This is bittersweet ❤ The size of that tiny fish, poor Louis & Dorcha, weather has been against them badly this year. Glad the WT took the decision to save the chicks with Roy Dennis foundation & thanks to Fundacion Migres for looking after so many young ones. Safe fledging to them. Already feel anxious for Louis & Dorcha to migrate & return, prayers of protection & good health for them both.🙏🏻

Louis has been building up the rails & doing his housework, it's good to see them together & looking healthy. It was very fortunate that the translocation was happening to save both chicks. Thanks to WT & Fundacion Migres❣

Was so sad to see this family divided; but the welfare of the chicks is essential… I hope they flourish well in Spain, and hope Louis and Dorcha have further broods; here’s hoping for less jeopardy in the future👏❤️

Just brilliant to see this! I had no idea of the beautiful tree under the nest and the surrounds, gorgeous countryside. Super job team and absolutely perfect music! Sadly I can't seem to link to the website for chat and updates of fish deliveries etc this year. I get this: The request is blocked. 20240701T002123Z-16b86d94878mnnnz28man3xzrc0000000fsg000000007fgt Any suggestions or solutions welcome :)

Beautiful view of the tree & nest 2. Wish the weather would improve for the Ospreys this year. Hail & gale force winds to end of June. Dorcha has proved herself to be a devoted Mum, Louis the best fisherbird ever. 😻🏴

Beautiful view of nest1. Have noticed it's more sheltered from the gale force winds & hail that nest2 gets often. Still have hopes this nest will be claimed, 2025 now.

Seen many Ancient trees here in Scotland. Some almost dead, but holding a wealth of life. They should be protected.

Hail & winds up to last week in June! Dorcha is so devoted to sheltering the eggs, then chicks, well done Mum.

Goodness, not seen that happen before! Poor Dorcha, sensibly hunkering down over the chicks. It's so warm & calm down here in Oxon, hard to imagine the wind being so strong up there. Glad no obvious harm done to any of the family.

This is awesome and I thank you for highlighting the UK's amazing rainforests. However, on the Woodland Trust website it states: 'In the UK Ideal conditions for temperate rainforest are found along the UK's western seaboard, including: West coast of Scotland North and west Wales Devon Cornwall Cumbria parts of Northern Ireland.' Maybe this should now be expanded to include the following, from Guy Shrubsole's Rainforest project website and crowdfunded map, as there are areas and good-sized fragments in: Major temperate rainforest zones in Britain are: Scotland - West Coast Wales - Snowdonia and the Elenydd England - West Country, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire . Rainforest patches have been found outside Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and in North and West Yorkshire, Northumberland, Derbyshire and also Merseyside, and the zone stretches down through the Yorkshire Dales and into Yorkshire/Lancashire. So all these areas have additional potential. It is far more prevalent than many realise and can exist outside of the recognised zone too.

If you plant fruit trees, it will be beneficial for both animals and humans, as well as the environment, such as cherries, blueberries, etc., which can grow in England.

The ospreys can be very fierce and aggressive..I’ve seen one push,one,out of the nest and also when there’s 3 the youngest doesn’t always make it ..and the mom almost seems relieved
