So you black based it then did a grey base coat over that? How did you get the light grey panels in between the darker surface panels? Just a wash?
@albertaumodel
@albertaumodel Жыл бұрын
After painted with black as base color, I dry brushed a thin layer with soft cloth and pencil over the light grey (just soft brush to avoid making it too dark and the light grey over the trench area will stand out as shown in movie). At last use pencil to mark the grid pattern to imitate the surface structure. Try it and it was fun! Thanks!!!

Excellent work. Is the Po figure a 3D print or is it from another kit. For some of my 144 scale dioramas I've used N scale figures from the train store and just repainted them to match the Star Wars characters.
@albertaumodel
@albertaumodel Жыл бұрын
Many thanks! Yes that was a train set figure and needed some modification and paint works. Two arms were cut out and the angle was adjusted in order to fit in the cockpit. Also glue was added to make the head a bit bigger to imitate Poe's helmet (maybe it's hard to see after all ha ha)!

@albertaumodel
@albertaumodel 2 жыл бұрын
You are so kind and many thanks!!! In fact I did the color variation by brushing the whole surface (light grey already applied as base color) with a cloth and a bit pencil color gently so the stand out parts (panels) became dark grey ( just like what we see in the movie). But be careful not to apply too much as it will become 'black star' instead of 'Death Star'.Then applied Matt coat and then dry brush dark grey color horizontally and vertically to imitate the grid-liked structure. Happy modeling!!!

Excellent job , but just one tip that you could still do now , if you get some Silver paint and brush the inside of the engine nozzle’s it makes for a much better affect when the red light reflects off of the silver because on the movie prop the inside of the nozzles is brushed aluminum… and on your model although the red lights look awesome the beautiful the red lights still illuminate the black or dark gray paint that’s inside the nozzle hey if you’re gonna work this hard you might as well go that easy extra 2 feet instead of a mile

Either you have very small hands or this looks bigger in the video than the one that I built. My version is so tiny that I can barely touch it without something breaking off. I have it mounted to the stand that came with it. This is the white version that comes in the two set Red Squadron kit. I checked this on evilbay and it is indeed the 1/144th scale version. I just don't have the patience to put lights into something so small. Still this was very entertaining. I hope that you enjoy building these as much as I do. Thank you for sharing this with us.
