Status means nothing unless you are around others that regard status as everything. Honor. Integrity. Truth. Loyalty not just to yourself but those around you. Those are QUALITIES that overshadow STATUS.

It’s so true. I bought back the same performance car I sold in my mid 20’s, it was very nostalgic for 6 months until I spent thousands on repairs then crashing pulling off the driveway. Plus you learn fast as a responsible adult and no longer a young hooligan, in the uk especially, there is not much space to drive fast without getting in trouble.

I made the same mistake with my first book. I haven't written a second one yet and don't know if I will (still thinking about it), but the first one was only about things that can be googled for free. It was terrible and I barely sold any. If I try again, I'll research first, test the market, and make a much better one.

I worked with an executive who had 3 Ivy League degrees but couldn’t execute to save his life. He got fired from that job and the one before. He was a functional idiot, but would talk about his education every chance he got.

That's why a real education is a treasure no one,can take away from you. Status and Status Anxiety are very natural human qualities, so there needs to be something underneath. Australians actually do know more about your Status markers are but the Australian Ethos is to pretend with complete deadpan sniggering up our sleeves...Oh, so what's Harvard😂😂😂😂 We've been watching all your movie and TV shows afterall. 🎉

I have an Associates from a college in Miami. Got me my first job and after that, it was basically worthless since my industry cares less about what degree you have or where you went. People always ask me, “Why not got back and get a higher level degree?” My view is, I don’t feel like making an institution rich to have a degree from them. Smart people do the minimum amount to get the maximum results. Every year I take multiple classes, free seminars, read books and watch training videos for certifications in the tools I use. Cost me less than $300 annually and has helped me increase my salary and positions over the last 12 years. The only people telling you how important degrees are in every field are Universities and those who went to them.

Second thing about Gatsby: why he did it isn't good, either. He spent his whole life trying to impress a woman who didn't want to be with him. Don't do that, either. Do it for yourself. The right partner is easier to find once you've found yourself.

I mean, when some jobs are not available to you unless you have a degree from these universities/colleges, it kinda justifies the complex. but it's true, just a status symbol. It's not harder to complete a degree from harvard than anywhere else. If it was, you'd see a lot more people going to harvard and failing. It's just harder to get in. The networking is what is more important. If you can't find yourself a rich partner (work or romantic) when at harvard, you've essentially failed the whole purpose of going there.
