I know this video is 6 years old but I am just now coming across this and it would've saved me lots of money since I do use a B&D and Craftsman string trimmer. I wonder if you could use tape down at the bottom when you first wind it around to hold that part in place before winding it?

All the "how to" videos ive watched that just annoyed the hell out of me cuz they just yapped and yapped and went on and on for 30 mins or more. Just for the actual info to literally be only 2 mins long. And then i find your video... I could listen to you talk about nothing aaallll day. You would do extremely well doing hypnosis audios. Youre voice and speech are incredibly hypnotic. ❤️

I can't find that collar you used to connect the opener to the torsion bar. Did it come with the opener or was it separate? Do you have a part number?

It's a much bigger "apin" if you are using shrpe edged trimmer line instead of the round profile stuff.

crazy question.. Do you know the distance measured from the top to the bottom mounting brackets on the sides of your 8500 opener box? I am working with the mounting bracket for the unit (3950MB) and cannot seem to find the measurements for the length between the mounting holes top and bottom and the width of the box itself. I assume it is 5.25" but nobody has any specifications that I can find. Could you measure yours possibly? thanks! Its a great video!

Good job explaining this operation. I played with it yesterday before i saw your video and couldn't get it to stay in the closed set position. We had a bad lightning storm yesterday and it screwed lots of things up. Back in business now. You the man. Thank you!

It should grip the bottom of the rubber with the ridges in the plastic. Try to test it outside the motorcycle first.

I had/have the same issue, I tightened it off the bike some more but I can’t seem to get the plastic washer to bite down on the rubber, every time I tighten it, it just expands the rubber, so I stick it back in and try to tighten the bolt to secure it to the bike and it just spins again. I took some of the glue that was in the box and put it where the ball and washer meet and where the bolt goes through the ball mount so maybe it’ll help hold it from just spinning around. Only thing I know to do is to take the stupid plastic washer off and replace it with a metal one and tighten the nut from the bottom

I measure out several 30’ lengths of string and wrap them back onto an empty string roll for storage . I find that this saves the most time when I sit down and do multiple spools .

Nine years later I can affirm like everyone else. This video tutorial is correct and spot on! ☝️ There’s probably dozens of videos where the information is poorly shown or explained! 😡 Appreciate you taking the time to document and share this valuable information first hand. Saved me $150.XX for a so called garage door professional to do the same! 👍 NOTE: The same information is clearly written on the GDO panel door. But seeing it done live makes everything crystal clear as to what to do / not to do.

We're interested in doing this for added security combined with the implementation of a WiFi plug to power the 841LM and we're reasonably competent with our hands but we're a little disappointed that it doesn't have a spring locked resting state [no power. It's probably to prevent a failure resulting in a bent caster pin], now we're aware it requires reversing of the polarity for switching back and forth from lock to unlock. Unfortunately we're a little lacking in the electronics creativity department and sure could use a little help/remediation with intermediate circuits. Did you say Z rave or Z Wave? Is Z rave/wave about the best relay option for this project? Is setting up the Z wave/rave relay fairly self explanatory? Can you use any off the shelf 2 wire 12V 2A DC power supply [combined with a WiFi plug] and just cut off the male DC plug end for this?

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzfaq.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Ive had this trimmer for years and i had no idea you could even buy pre strung spools like this, like i assumed if i wanted a replacement that it would come pre strung, but i couldnt fathom buying spools in bulk.
