I felt the same on Power Station for ages; i even had extended versions of both singles back in the day, but the sound didn't stay with me 40 yrs later.. then last year I got the proper vinyl and really enjoyed it. Contains very beautiful cover of Harvest For The World😊

I love your top lists videos for Duran Duran! Can't wait for the Part 2 video! My favorite video and song from Duran Duran is "Is There Something I Should Know?" video. It always brings back memories for me, good memories of 1983.

Really appreciate that your ranking is not a "typical" one of many Duran Duran fans out there. I look at my rankings as being "ok, now which Duran CD or vinyl do I want to listen to?" I've been a fan since 1984, so I have the perspective of having listened to them for quite a while now. I don't dispute the superb greatness of albums like Rio and AYNIN, but I'm more inclined to listen to Medazzaland (my favorite) and RCM (my 2nd favorite) over all of the other albums. Pop Trash (#3), Paper Gods (#4), and Thank You (#5) would round out my top 5. Never apologize for liking what you like! Thanks for uploading! :)

I am so proud of Simon getting an MBE, my Hubby said not before time hehehe :D My Dad could not understand why me and my Sister exchanged the same album that Christmas hahahaha :P He thought we were bonkers I didn't know about El Diablo being a single at all not seen the sleeve though, will have to have a look, don't think it will be making it's way into my collection either lol 😂 I love this songm would have been good if they had redone this for the Danse Macabre album as goes with the theme I LOVE the video for the Flame and Goodbye is forever, but it makes me laugh so much, Simons acting skills really get shown off in this vid, the part with JT and the contract hahahah 😂 I watched the behind the scenes he wanted to do the whole swings through the window, but they said he wasn't allowed, sadly i don't think we are getting a follow up, i would have loved one though :D The song is fab and has my fave line in it too ......... steal away the Dawn (as my name is Dawn hehehe) :P I love Lady Ice, it is so atmospheric always loved it. It reminds me of a time at night near the Lizard in Cornwall, and me and Mum were near the old boat launch, it was really steep (scared us, the see was so rough and when i hear parts of the tune it takes me back to that :D It does annoy me that so many songs don't get released here in the UK when they are a British band Cos i would have got Goodbye is forever The end of the video if you look at the tree and then look at the notorious album, i think it is a hint to that as it always reminds me of that! Difference now is you get an album on CD or iTunes and cherry pick what songs to listen to, but back in the day you listened to an album in full more often than not :P I would probably have had the lyrics for Election Day as i got Smash Hits and No1 magazines in the 80's and 90's :P I love this album it is a true masterpiece, and just special. I also love Keep me in the dark, i knew my Sister had got it, as they did an interview on the radio on about the songs, the only one they didn't play was KMITD, so i am on the landing and i here it, i was like hang on a minute i haven't heard this song before, i had already wrapped her album but she was playing mine lol 😂 The Promise is amazing, Simon and Stings voices are beautiful and harmonise so well together I was lucky enough to see them perform Election Day and Some like it hot on the Strange Behaviour tour 1987, my Sister got tickets for my 16th birthday, what made it even more special was it was Drummer Steve Ferrone's birthday and they sang Happy Birthday to him, so that made my night. (there is the audio of that concert 25th April 1987 on youtube ) Say the word on the deluxe album is fab too 😊 Waffled enough lol Loved your ranking vids

Good that you got to the essentially Duran Duran album that was more free from heavier guitar & financial stresses. It works well & has depth in quality & multiple musical styles. My least to most favourite tracks on So Red The Rose are 9,Rose Arcana. (Not long enough to get into - although that would be different with the longer version most likely). 8,The Promise. (I enjoy the mix of vocals from Simon & Sting & nice sentiment but the song goes on too long - take 2 mins. off - & l'd have enjoyed it more). 7,El Diablo. (I enjoy the slow build up & the range of instrumentation on this). 6,Lady lce. (If anything,an even better build up & Simon's vocals excellent). 5,Goodbye Is Forever. (Close again between this & my #4 selection. This is a little slower - still great though)! 4,Keep Me ln The Dark. (As it's a bit more energetic & a decent beat then it's worthy of it's place to my mind). 3,Election Day. (Not sure about the transition from verse to chorus, this is still a great single that has lots of energy). 2,The Flame. (This is opposite & has a great segue from verse to chorus & is generally very catchy - really, really good). 1,Missing. (You need to catch the video Lady Cherry lce & you'll notice the influence on later DD video 'All She Wants Is'. Haunting, melodic, melodramatic & achingly sad & beautiful at the same time - a triumph)!!

I had to re-listen to this album as l don't know it as well as the others. Overall, a fairly decent album & was quite disappointed with the reworking of most of their own songs & pleasantly surprised with the quality of a few of the covers. My least to most favourite songs on this album are - 13,Bury A Friend. (Maybe the original was better, not liking this much- not my thing)! 12,Nightboat. (Managed to ruin a fantastic original - don't do it again...) 11, Confession In The Afterlife. (Surprisingly weak final song - unlike them)! 10,Love Voodou. (Another poor reinterpretation compared to the original). 9,Supernature.(A pretty good beat). 8,Spellbound. (Again... Pretty good). 7,Ghost Town. (Stays quite faithful to the original classic - that's a positive). 6,Danse Macabre. (I really think this is well done & is quite danceable). 5,Paint It Black. (Great lead guitar work). 4,Secret Oktober 31st. (The simplicity of Nick's keyboards & Simon's vocal makes the original almost unbeatable - only the music box beginning & ending could improve 1983's for me - weaker overall). 3,Super Lonely Freak. (Kept the essential quality of 'Lonely In Your Nightmare' & segued well into 'Super Freak'. Very good). 2,Psycho Killer. (Superb funky bass guitar from John). 1Black Moonlight. (So dancey, upbeat & funky - obviously Nile Rodgers inspired - great). Look forward to what you do next.

I describe this album as, the album i never thought i wanted, but i love it :D My least favourites are Paint it black, and Bury a friend, i think it might be that Simon sings Paint it black it in a different way phrasing wise, so i don't really like it much. I hadn't heard of Bury a friend lol don't really like Billy Eilish songs :P Supernature reminds me of going to the fair as a kid in the 70's/80's they used to play it a lot so nostalgia wise i do like it Super lonely freak i would have loved it to just be LIYN as it is one of my faves of theirs, but i think the transition is good, and the super freak part is catchy. Your so lucky getting to see them perform this live :D I like their version of Ghost town, i think they did it as a tribute to Terry Hall as he died. I remember the original song music wise in the 80's mostly was fab, but rl times were a bit bleak the song was about people being frustrated with no jobs and no future at the time, there were riots in Brixton in London. Psycho Killer and Spell bound i didn't really know that well, love their versions of the songs though :D I like Danse Macabre it is fun and it has cool areas in it. The fog horn and bell at the beginning of the song, are from Whitby (yes linked to Dracula) also my favourite place in the world, i am from North Yorkshire originally so i wooped with joy when i found that out hehehe (I live in the south West now and have done for a long time :P I was disappointed that on the video Nick John and Roger are recognisable then Simon looks well....not like Simon sob :( As a Simon girl the last few vids have done him bad (yes i am talking about YOU Invisible lol) Nightboat is even creepier really great version, them revamping their songs really shows and proves how amazing Simon's voice is after all these years he's still got it :) I love both version :) Every time i have seen them (seen them 6 times ) i get that feeling every time, especially when i went to see the All You Need Is Now tour and i hadn't seen them since 1987 heheh So happy my Husband got to see them at the Paper Gods tour (he was meant to see AYNIN but when they re did the dates, our concert was in the week and Hubby being in the forces couldn't get that time off :( My faves are Confessions, Secret Oktober & Black moonlight number 1 spot. I first heard the album on the 30th October, i had pre ordered it on iTunes, but didn't get it for a few days, my Husbands Auntie Died the night before, and we'd just found out that morning, Confessions in the after life came on, and the tears really flowed, after hearing it again with Hubby and dedicated it to his Auntie, he was like wow this is amazing, i said i want this played at my funeral, i just love how Simon sings on this. I deffo thought of Arcadia Missing when i heard it :D But better. It has an ethereal feel to it. I wish they had added El Diablo on it too, would have gone with the theme. Simon once said that So red the rose was going to be a Duran Duran album, but Roger and Andy left, nothing stopping them doing music with that vibe really :D Secret Oktober adding the music box makes it sound magical and Simons voice is gorgeous! Probably added the music box as there have been paranormal programmes where they use them to see if spirits will interact with it :) But the backing vocals do drown him out a bit on this version, which is a shame, still love it though :P Black Moonlight is such a bop, makes me want to dance every time i hear it, pulled me in from the first listen :D Deffo here the Chic influence, not keen on the vid, love the performance of it on Graham Norton though :D Anna Ross (not Hannah) and Rachel's backing vocals are great on this too :D (though it was a different backing singer on GN show) I love this line from it 'Taken in possession by the music and beguiled' Yep they do a pretty good job of beguiling the fans with their amazing music :D I think i aren't keen on the vid because i know what Ouija boards can do (someone used one in the house i lived at as a kid and the spirit always affected me (i won't go into it here but yeah :( and i don't like the bit where they take blood from Nick like what the heck. But it IS good to NOT have another AI video, good to actually see them :D The voice at the beginning and end of the video is paranormal investigator Harry Price. He was probably the one that did the last séance, He is known for conducting the first live broadcast from a ‘haunted house’, which was transmitted to the nation on BBC radio. Love this album though when i saw the halloween concert on youtube, i was like wonder if they will make an album, and they did :D Great to have them all work on it too :D Have you any plans to review Arcadis So red the rose and or Powerstation albums I loved both albums, but for me Arcadia has stood the test of time, i play that way more :P Waffled enough lol Loved your reviews, and looking forward to whatever you do next :D <3 x

Good to see that you are better, great ranking as always! For me i love Wing (very much like a bond theme to me from 1st hearing it!) Future Past does tug at my heart actually, love this part If all we are is memory Doorways on a garden The flowers of a century We are growing stronger Then the great chorus really powerful song Give it all up, i wish i had seen it live as Rachel O Conner does a great job! Nothing Less & All of you i love too, love that Saffron sings on some of the songs, and Nothing Less really shows her voice off i think Invisible just loved it the first time i heard it Falling, (i agree it is a good ending to the album, Anniversary is just special it chokes me up when Simon Sings, 'It may not seem like much, it may not seem like much at all, it may not seem like much.....but it's everything to us, i feel like that is the band thanking the fans for their support 💖 I heard Reflex, Hungry like the wolf and Wild boys :P Beautiful Lies in a way sounds like a follow up to Barbarella hehehe Tonight Ynited is a bop if i am in that mood More joy has grown on me, wasn't a fan when i first heard it lol 😂 😂 Hammer head for me is pretty low down, just not gelled with it, but i love all the album and one of my faves I don't think there are any songs i don't like though and it depends on my mood too :D I just bought Laughing boy (sounds very Bowie like Ashes to Ashes vibe) Just listening to Invocation, sounds like the end of Hammerhead Simons voice wow :D Velvet Newton quite good too Looking forward to your review of Danse Macabre :D xx PS sorry for not ranking but i'd be here all night swapping the top 5 songs hahahah 🤣

Glad you're better. Future Past has some decent highlights & a few average songs to my mind. Most notably,it lacks some musically binding cohesion that usually runs through a Duran Duran album. It takes music directional risks & deserves credit for that. My least to most favourite tracks differ quite markedly (no more or less valid in selection regardless). 12,Tonight United. (Sounds like a poorly imatated karaoke version of how Duran Duran could sound to me). 11,Falling.(Doesn't do anything for me personally but l know others gush about it & l'm glad they hear more in it than l do). 10,Anniversary.(Got a good & powerful beat, otherwise to me a similar conclusion as #12)! 9,Wing. (Pretty good). 8,Nothing Less. 7,Give It All Up. (Certainly benefits from Tove Lo's vocals as a nice contrast for me). 6,All Of You. (Overall good, yet l feel it could use a bit faster a pace to the song - probably just me)! 5,Invisible. (Some excellent lyrics, eerie & detatched - especially with the music video - something a bit different but strong song). 4, Beautiful Lies. (The far superior Giorgio Moroder inspired track - smooth & dancey). 3,More Joy! (How this relates to the rest of the album is beyond me! However,in it's own right a great earworm tune as l see it). 2,Hammerhead. (Never a fan of rap & yet it remains one of my favourites on the album because of it's catchiness). 1,Future Past.(Fantastic - is everything 'Falling' tried to be but failed. Wistful & beautifully crafted musically - classic Duran Duran)!

Onto Papers Gods now.Again notably different from it predecessor as always.I quite like it,too dance orientated for me to really get into.(I always admired that Duran Duran were able to craft songs/albums that were foremostly listenable/interesting without having to resort to being too dancey - when a lot of their successful contemporaries were - to make it commercially sellable). From my least to most favourite tracks are - 12,Danceaphobia. (Trying so hard to get as a dance track, yet fails to convince me of worth). 11,Last Night In The City. (A little better but same issue). 10,Change The Skyline. (As L.C.I. feels, it's discordant in trying to be almost 2 different songs in verse & chorus). 9,Only In Dreams.(It's alright, it's bores me though)! 8,Face For Today.(Getting distinctly better from this point on for my liking). 7,The Universe Alone.(Musically pretty good, especially the choir at the end - only o.k. by their high last album track quality though)! 6,Sunset Garage Days.(Quite an unrelatable American vibe to it. I forgive that because it's half decent). 5,Pressure Off.(Aaah, the Nile Rodgers funk element that always seems to work & add something to Duran Duran 😉). 4,Butterfly Girl. (A song that's really grown on me the more l listen. A very positive message also adds to the track - very good). 3,You Kill Me With Silence.(Some excellent & clever changes in musical direction that works perfectly within the song, lyrically decent too). 2,Paper Gods.(The confidence to build the song up musically for ages before it really gets going fully is fantastic. Excellent track). 1,What are The Chances?(John Frusciante's heavy guitar flourishes really add to this already superb song - for me,the obvious lead single they failed to deliver! In my top 10 all time favourite Duran Duran songs). Overall still a pretty strong album.

Great video again :D I heard that Butterfly Girl was written for Simon's eldest daughter Amber. I just watched the face for today vid, and recognised 6 fans that i know hahahahaha :P Didn't know it was directed by Nick's daughter :) I love Anna Ross, and Rachel O'Conner, both got amazing voices (Rachel is on the latest albums) Universe alone was played at my Sisters partners funeral and i find it hard to listen to it now, but it is epic! What are the chances is special to me and my Husband, the first time he heard it he held my hand and said this song is about us <3 (soppy sod hehehe) We were so happy they performed it along with Universe alone, and Only in dreams when we saw the tour in Liverpool :) (yes funny the vid you mentioned is from that night :D) The song Paper Gods i didn't like at first but then it grew on me, as did the album. I LOVE Only in dreams and fantastic live too! My fave along with What are the chances, but i will play Only in dreams on repeat sometimes hahaha In DDU (Second Life, there is a venue and back stage separate rooms for all the member, Nicks room has a coffin and he is very gothic (the parties were quite dark goth themed) We have 3 cats and one of them Bella is a Duranie if i am watching them on KZfaq, listening on my phone etc she comes and head rubs and loves me singing along, she LOVE What are the chances and Only in dreams hahahah :P I love the bonus songs, i don't listen to Evil Beach or Cinderella ride much, but the ones that were on the UK album i love especially Northern lights. Paper Gods gets played a lot as it is one of my Hubby's fave albums! I have seen some of the hate, it is terrible, i wasn't so keen on Liberty or Medazzaland, but really into them now, i think tastes change, moods change and some songs you learn to appreciate, there are no albums i hate at all, a few songs i aren't keen on like Silva Halo, but if your a fan i don't get why they have to be so nasty! What one person loves someone else may not like, cos we all have different tastes, and quite frankly the world would be boring if we all loved the same stuff all the time.

That’s who I heard it was about, although I wasn’t sure if it was definite. It’s very interesting, the things and facts you find out about songs when you research them. I’ve learnt a lot about songs I thought I already knew everything there was to know about them, whilst researching to make these videos. I’m jealous you got to see Only In Dreams live haha! I haven’t listened to those other bonus tracks, they’re on my “to listen” list of B-sides and bonus tracks, but I haven’t gotten around to listening yet. Truthfully I’m wasn’t the biggest fan of AYNIN as an album, but it’s growing on me since my ranking, and I also wouldn’t say such cruel things about the album if I didn’t like it anyway. I can understand hate from none fans, but when it’s coming from those who claim they’re fans of the band, yet they’re tearing them and their work down, it does make you wonder just how much of a “fan” they truly are. I agree with you on Silva Halo, it’s not one of my favourites at all, but I still don’t feel like being nasty toward it, like some people choose to be when they don’t like a song!

I think they definitely need to bring back some of the deeper cuts in their live shows!🤞🏻 I can never understand the people who brag about going to many shows, or meeting the band members, only to then criticise things they do. It really makes you question what they actually want from the band sometimes, I don’t understand how you can like something yet be so hateful toward it at the same time (also that’s really cool that you got to speak to Nick!)

I'm always pleased when music/lyrics connect deeply with people - it feels to me like the music artist(s) done their job properly. All music artists that have sustained a long career must have something about them (even if it's not to my musical tastes personally) & l admire them for that. My favourite is Duran Duran & l believe that by knowing & caring about the music & the band that l can have a valid reaction to their music - good or bad - as long as l can try to justify that feeling & l hope that makes any criticism fair. BUT it is only my opinion & all others have their own & it's also as valid as mine. In an ideal world,I'd love to love everything Duran Duran put out - always going to be a bit unrealistic. Keep enjoying what you enjoy. Long live Duran Duran.😁

On Second Life Duran Duran have land Duran Duran Universe (DDU) One of Simon's Daughters runs it now, but back in the day before that land was around, i was friends with someone who had land dedicated to DD, and she was friends with Nick (he used to be in cognito! But she was made the manager of DDU and did some of the land. I have a feeling Nick wrote it, as they used to have parties and Nick would attend, Roger did 2 DJ sets there too, but Simon and JT i think only went on there a few times. The only song l can take or leave on this album - not Ana Matronix's fault.(She was great with New Order on 'Jetstream' for example). 13,A Diamond In The Mind.(Love it all in varying degrees from here on in). 12, Return To Now.(Great strings). 11,Other People's Lives. 10,Too Bad You're So Beautiful. 9,All You Need Is Now.(Great chorus but pedestrian verses that stifles it for me - still fab though). 8,Runway Runaway. 7,Blame The Machines.(Love the mid section with the various whirring & dysfunctional computer like sounds). 6,Being Followed.(Can understand Simon's sentiments there). 5,Mediterranea.(Where the serious quality starts! So much feeling has gone into this lyrically & musically). 4,Girl Panic! (Classic Duran Duran groove & all on top form individually). 3,Before The Rain.(How could this only be #3??? Even by Duran Duran's high quality album closers standard - quite possibly my favourite). 2,Leave A Light On. (A ballad of the highest quality). 1,The Man Who Stole A Leopard.(A fantastic vocal performance from Simon & Kelis, great musical build up & a fab newsreader turn from Nina Hossein - how can you better that)?! The difference between choosing a producer that cares not a jot for the music artists (Timbaland) & someone (Mark Ronson) whom is a fan & cares about what is made has never been so stark in contrast,to my mind.

10/10 for taking the brave direction in producing this album BUT 4/10 for the finished album. A lot of the songs have lost their Duran Duran identity but l l really like those that don't. I count the original 12 tracks from the album l bought at the time of release. Worst to best - 12,Skin Divers.(I don't know whom it sounds like but it ain't DD!) 11,Last Man Standing. 10,Tempted. 9,Red Carpet Massacre. 8,Nite Runner.(All these sound ilike a loss of identity & poorer for it,except 'Last Man Standing' which is an uncharacteristically weak album closer for Duran Duran). 7,Tricked Out. (Getting better now...) 6,The Valley. 5,Dirty Great Monster. (Let's just say "unusual" subject matter- pretty good nonetheless). 4,Zoom In. (I do like this quite a lot). 3,Boxful O' Honey. (Proper sounding Duran Duran & lovely being stripped back musically). 2,Falling Down. (An obvoius single given it's quality, yet if you're going to do a different sounding album why not release something like'Nite Runner' or 'Skin Divers' - even if l don't really like them). 1, She's Too Much. (One of my favourite DD songs of last 20 years, where again less instrumentation is more). My 2nd least favourite album from them, mostly because l can't hear much of what makes Duran Duran so great being washed out in production).
