I used to go shopping with Mummy in the 60s when it was brand new and I bought a dress (still got!) from the Arcade. Mummy used to buy meat from a butcher there. The Arcade looks very run down and depressing.

What you have created is a piece social history for this part of Coventry. People in years to come will lookback and see how things in the area used to be. Keep up the good work. Excellent smooth camera work as well with good HD quality, what camera are you using, is it a 360?

Hi Shawry! Such an important event in Sky Blues history to have recorded for posterity. How different things might have been, almost 10 years down the line. Can we connect offline, do you think, so that I can chat with you about using selections from this footage in a pre-season video project I'm planning? Best wishes, Mark Higgitt

I left in the 90's, great video, I love going home. Sad to see the Fob Watch Pub in such a state. Cov had some awesome pubs in the 80s and 90s.

It use to be a lovely little shopping area, just barely a handful of shops left now such a shame, I think this whole area is going to be redeveloped?

Nice photos. Makes me nostalgic. But they destroyed Broadgate by taking away the lovely grass & flower beds. Music too much.

Wyken Slough used to be a family park. There was a snack bar and toilets; you could go on a motor boat around the lake. Would get crowded with families and children every sunny weekend in Spring/Summer.

That's an interesting area. Don't recall ever going there when I lived in Coventry. I'm sure it's changed completely since I left in 1979.
@golden.lights.twinkle2329Ай бұрын
Every change they make to Coventry leaves it worse than it was before. I can't think of anything they have done that has really improved it. I was born in Coventry and lived there for 30 years. I emigrated to the USA in 1979. I've been back a few times since but not for at least 15 years.

Great video. Wildlife is wonderful. So much English countryside is being lost to development. I hope they never build on this beautiful area.

Morris dancing, a Scottish invention to celebrate a Palestinian Syrian. Aren't the sassanachs a funny wee mob 😂😂
@golden.lights.twinkle2329Ай бұрын
It's not a Scottish invention!
@loxism72Ай бұрын
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 think you'll find it is. Just like two Scots founded the English FA, One scotsman founded the FA Cup and another the bank of England. One search " is morris dancing a Scottish invention" oh, deary me, jog on 🤡

@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 yes it is. Easily checked.

@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 did you go check? Oh dear, Scottish invention. Hope you use the bank Of England cos that was one of us. Two of us founded the English FA, One started the FA Cup. Might want to google " Scottish inventions" cos we invented 90%of everything you use today 🤡🏴. As I said, strange lot the sassanachs. No culture or heritage of their own. Even English is an almagamtion of different languages. We speak the oldest European language, have the oldest flag, are the second oldest country as well. Shite being sassanach eh xx

Nice to see cov as apathetic to our own customs as normal while Sunday the local newbies were closing down roads yelling and drumming for two hours my wishes for a saxon festival to have ever happened are seemingly dead and buried. Not a word of this st George's day celebration was put out where I live, no surprise there.
