I still struggle to see why drafting is such an issue, with triathlon being popular, there are lots of courses, where it is impossible to strictly adhere to drafting rules. Drafting and tactics are also a big part of bike racing.

Most of the races I do are draft legal, it would be very difficult otherwise: narrow roads, packed starts… And for the ones that are non drafting I don’t have a TT bike or aero bars, so I don’t do as many of them anyway 😅 . And on these people still draft, but I do as suggested: do my best to not draft, wait for a section where I can overtake and don’t bother much when someone gets on my wheel.

Invalid test because biased influence, or even intentional slower results for the cheap one. Better use a flow pool and measure drag from a dynamometer to calculate hydrodynamic resistance. To measure technique influence for the wetsuits, blind the logos and decoration (or erase them) and give them to a non-experienced swimmers (otherwise they will recognize the neoprene by tactile perceptions) and make two groups with proper randomization and statistical analysis. The person who distribute the wetsuits should also ignore which wetsuit is giving to each participant.

Humm, not very sure what you’re trying to do… VO2 max doesn’t impact speed, it is relevant on some aerobic dependent distances but is not at all a sprint velocity. Also is genetic dependent in great measure, so not super useful to work on exhaustively. Specially in triathletes which have to deal with long races (more into the pure aerobic pace and threshold). But suppose one wants to work at VO2 max: 3x 1000 or 4x 1000 is the way to go, the training you suggest is very injury related and inefficient as you spend a lot of time in anaerobic conditions without any proven benefits over 12-16 minutes (for example Jakob Ingebritsen workouts). From time to time one can work 8x 1000 but not so often, body take 4-5 days to full recovery so you can’t do any other intensive training on the week

You guys need to give a more easier visual explanation on gear shifting instead of going off on a tangent of advanced bike technical jargon that is foreign language to a newbie like myself. Since im in a hilly area, for climbs am I clicking the right inner tab / larger right tab or the left inner tab / larger left tab. When going downhill which gear side should i be clicking , should I be clicking the left inner or larger tab or the right inner or larger tab ??? Your videos are misleading and not beginner friendly !

37 years old, hitting 193-200 ocassionally for fun. If you haven't trained for a longtime, your heart beats a lot higher and a 180bpm run is no longer as hard as before. But once your heart is trained a 180bpm run becomes much harder, but at the same time you are also faster.

Man I'm in a different level of this MF pain, it comes on the left side and it hurts AF, whenever i run for 20 meters, or even jump 5 times..also when I'm working out.. I've been not exercising, running or even going for a walk in 2 months now.

Unrelated, but I find the concept of sets of reps kind of annoying. 3 sets of 10 reps? Why not just say 30 reps since that’s what you’re doing? You’re not really breaking it up for your body when you go straight from one “set” to the next, so what’s the point of applying common core math to your workout?

I'm in love with cold immersion because of the mood boost it gives me, although I don't really swim in cold water because I don't really have the chance. It claimingly has a lot of health benefits that might or might not be properly backed up but would never give it up because it noticeably has so many good mental benefits. and I think no wonder more and more professional athletes apply cold exposure and ice therapy for recovery too.

There are a tone of formulae about heart rate decrease with age, because it decreases with age and no other better predictive factor was found in physiological non-medicated conditions. So the first thing we should take care is measuring year by year: even with the best lab measuring, next year you can decrease 3-4 beats / minute or not decreasing at all. Who knows… The other thing is ALL formulae are statistical! If you see a graphic with 1.000 HR patients on Y axes vs. their ages on X axes you will not see a perfect straight line going slowly downwards since 220 at 0 age. You will see a huge cloud of points that is bounded less and less high: I have actually a 33 yo. patient with MHR = 172 and a 42 y.o one with MHR = 204 Formulae give you a reasonable chance of your HR with some accuracy which is given on studies (you can read for example F(some arithmetics around age) = MHR +- 10 bpm that mean usually Standard Deviation from the average or less usually the interval for 90 % studied population interval. That is, MHR based formulae are given with the advice of taking care of sensations, efficiency of training (if you overtrain your MHR was overestimate or your intensity may be recalculated) and local changes on HR (heat, humidity, caffeine, drugs, sleeping etc). My personal advice is to use your intensities TO CALCULATE your zones, not adapt your intensities with any HR model which is only a global line for people who train large populations (school teachers, physiotherapists, trainers on teams without technical resources)

I had three cold cramps in competition swimming training in a pool. The heel stuck to the butt so hard that I could not straighten the knee with leg muscles alone. I need assist from the arms and body weight. Not everyone can swim with a leg cramped in half acting as drag. I could not have gotten out of the pool without a ladder.
