Same is said for the band after Roth. The sense of humor changed. Like parents throwing a party while the kids are gone instead of the kids (Roth) throwing the party while the parents are gone.

13:20 You know what? I never saw these 3 guys robbing the bank as "Afro-Americans robbing a bank", I saw them as criminals robbing a bank. Movie doesn't really draw attention to their race, and if you don't know the context of the era (like me, who was born in Scotland), they are just some assholes doing a bad thing. And racism was a problem in Britain at that time as well! But people just saw it differently, I don't know, Enoch Powell was loathed by many on his own side because he said what they didn't want to say (that there was a problem of racism in the British society, but not in a way you would think). I grew up with Indians and Gurkhas as our neighbours and they were a very nice people who cared about our community, were integrated into the society (but still held on their religious beliefs and traditions) and seen as British as everybody else. One of them even became a Conservative MP, in a district with 98% of "white" voters.

Dave never saw #1 in Halen. Sam did multiple weeks at #1 on the first 3 records. It was plain that when Hagar joined, it was a major upgrade on a lot of levels. But I like a lot of Roth-era Halen, so I'm not a hater. The Roth-era b-sides are really incredible. But I liked Sam-era Halen b-sides and hits a lot more. Roth-era hit songs were mediocre, with Diver being a total plop.

Micheal Anthony is a sort of Ringo Star on bass guitar . Both are considered all around nice guys , not over the top technically brilliant but more then proficient and have these quirky little moments that made them identifiable. Anthony has all these out of nowhere riffs and turns , and his tone is him. And apparently VH thought his skill was sufficient to intro the first song on 1 and 2 . Just saying …and IIRC Eddie defended MA in a guitar world interview called him- a damn fine bass player. I suggest Van Halen II … he’s no slouch. Eddie has no backing tracks on his solos , just Anthony.

The same rules apply with Van Halen minus Roth. It became something else and should have been named different. Some called it Van Hagar, but Sam Halen would have been more appropriate.

The thought that critics or someone like Peckinpah thought Dirty Harry was trash messaging just shows how disgusting the liberal mind has always been. Fascism? Liberals wouldn't know fascism if they started making up crimes and changing laws in order to prosecute their most hated political rival. Fascism is here, and it's wielded by liberals gaslighting fascism into "muh democracy".

Dave says as a kid he did Monkey Time and grew up to continue doing Monkey Time and getting very well for it. 80s was an era of video, he was purely expressing his heart. Cant blame him for his flair and his hair. Dave wasnt just THERE, David Lee Roth was HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE.

Surely live was grand during the Jesse James gang. Surely everything was save and nice during the genocide of the Native Americans. Surely they had peace during the Independence war and the Civil war and the Mexican war. Surely everything was nice and quiet during Prohibition and the great Depression with mobsters, Bonnie & Clyde, Capone, Dillinger, Kelly etc. It used to be so peaceful and safe....

For you maga kooks, you only want to bash HOLLYWOOD when it’s convenient for you lol. You seem to forget movies like Gran Torino where Clint shows empathy for an immigrant family, and sacrifices his life to help them. He acted, produced and directed iirc. Also his range extended to classics like Play Misty For Me. He was an actor and Dirty Harry is a movie geez. Remember to VOTE BLUE to protect creativity and stop fascism.

This is wild. I was like, where is there a recording of Tarantino just waxing poetic in long form about movies like this I'd love to watch it -- should've realized it was AI voice narrated because there was no emotion in his voice, and Tarantino ALWAYS has emotion in his voice. But this is a really well made video essay. Brilliant editing/video splicing job partner!

Confessions of a fellow guitarist of 51 years: Tony possesses one of the weirdest playing styles of anyone I've ever seen or heard, which is a very good thing. I personally can emulate Hendrix, no problem. But I can't accurately come close to copying what Tony Iommi does in much of his lead work, which in my opinion makes him one of our greatest rock guitarists, equal to that of Hendrix.

Van Halen couldnt be Van Halen without David Lee Roth. Not to diminish Sammy Hagar's talent dont get me wrong Sammy was phenomenal in his own right. But it just didn't work in Van Halen. The music changed the chemistry changed I stopped buying Van Halen's records after 1984. I stopped listening to any Van Halen after Roth left. I love you Sammy im a big fan of your music of everything you did and do outside of Van Halen you were great and still are. But i could never get into the music you did with Van Halen. You were your best without being in Van Halen. And Van Halen was at their best without you. Over all im just blessed to live next door to where it all began. Pasadena is San Gabriel's neighbor city and from the backyard party gigs you played to the main stage all over the world it felt damn good that someone from our neighborhood got to show the world just how hard we could rock the world So Cal Pasadena style. Thank you Eddie for showing them just how we did it. I was blessed to share the ride with you when a band from little 'ol Pasadena conquered the world of rock and roll. Let the goodtimes roll on and on and on. Rest in peace brother Eddie. And Sammy keep doing what you do best being the phenomenal Sammy Hagar dont ever drive 55!

13:53 …Just the beginning. Amazingly, much of Don Landee’s studio-building expertise is now common sense. Equipment, layout and construction. Frank largely finished UMRK around the time Missing Persons released their first EP. A bit later, the Synclavier turned out to be a creative black hole for the best late 80s composer/producers. People like Frank and Todd Rundgren seemed to fall off the planet. Had Ableton been around in the 80’s, songwriting would be worse off than it is today. Why compose when you have the ultimate sampler?
