any tips for pet owners on maintaining a nice garden? our cats are indoor cats, but my dogs think they're being helpful by digging in the dirt...if only they would dig where I want them to!...it's part of the reason I keep having to start over...🙄😂
@TheThriftedPlanter7 сағат бұрын
Ahhhh no! I understand. We rescued cats a few years ago that were indoor outdoor and they used my garden as their personal litter box. It was rough. With dogs It's about training them to which I have no experience. My dogs are leashed when in the garden and aren't outside without us. I don't have a full fence with gates so this is what we have to do to keep them from running away lol. I do know they make products that you can spray to deter dogs and cats from certain areas that may help. Maybe even giving them one small space where they can dig and play then making the rest of the garden off limits through training? I know it's frustrating.

How do you wake them up? And can you save a tiny bulb that is sad and not producing?

🤣 all your videos are cracking me up- I’m feeling exposed! Haha my husband caught on that every time he went for work travel (which was often) that he’d come home to new plants 🪴 planted or in pots still in my “holding space” hahaha 😂

I really had to force myself to stop buying (for now) - SO HARD! I just have more plants than time to finish putting them in my landscaping because I am so undecided where I want them. But this is me 💯 and uh yeah, I need more plant money too hahaha -- I do have a “money plant” as well 🤣

I'm new to being an elephant ear plant mom. Bought my first one in March. Started it as a bulb. My question is do I or should I add a stake or moss pole and tie back?
@TheThriftedPlanter7 сағат бұрын
Aww Yay! As long as the stems are holding themselves up I wouldn't. If the plant is getting enough overhead light they should stand without support.

Can I just pause the planet? I'm not ready for August! I was lazy this year and only bought one petunia, and left it in it's nursery container. It's done pretty well! And now I know why it didn't seed out like other petunias have.

While shopping for seeds last winter I stumbled upon BLACK PRINCE. I suspected from the git go it might be similar to BLACK KRIM which we love so of course I had to buy a packet. I set the seeds 01 March they sprouted quick & strong. i let them develop in my Garage greenhouse until 01 May when I moved them all out to my outdoor greenhouse. All went well, all plants skyrocketed up to 7Ft tall all developed blossoms. then fruits. All fruits got big N fat N juicy. Except the Black Prince. It developed fruits but all are little and each N every one of them have blossom end rot. No new blossoms nor fruits have appeared since. Whats a Mother to do? !

Thanks for reminding me that I can still refresh my potting soil! I've mentally checked out of gardening this season. It's been so hot! Where are you, where you need a sweater? That looked so refreshing. My petunias are not hurting as bad as yours but they need help. Thanks for sharing!

I always enjoy brown eyed susans, rudbeckia triloba. For me it grows as a biennial, short the first year and tall and flowering the 2nd. it reseeds itself.

I would maybe try a different incubator where you could add water from the outside to minimize opening but I think you did great for a first time incubating and also having them to be shipped eggs

Dear Ciearra, We live in zone 6b, Upstate NY. This is our first year with Canna Lilies and it's been a bit of a struggle. I've already split them into bigger pots since I didn't have a great place to plant them yet. I have full sun on the back porch and they seem to do well there. I went thru a period of rust and yellowing and cut the plants back. That seemed to help. I've learned more about deadheading properly. I usually have great luck with planting flowers and growing them into good full areas of color. One area of concern was watering. I had them on my drip system, but maybe that was part of the yellowing problem earlier. Not sure. I'm now letting the top of the pot dry out down a couple inches and then adding water a couple times a week depending on heat and sun. This has been a challenge. I was born in greenhouses, and you would think, I'd be better at this than I am. It's been a humbling experience. And finally, I enjoy your videos. You're a really good speaker and presenter. You're well structured and I really appreciate the work you put into it. Thanks for all the information you share with us. Steve

What gardening zone are y'all in? Just found your channel and I like the way you think about garden planning! :) I'm in zone 9b and just starting my 'clean up' phase of our tiny back and front yards. Been trying to "clean up" actually for the past 5 years - love what you've done! (so funny about the glass of wine effect! I get that way sometimes too!)

Hi there! I tried my first elephant ears this summer in pots. I live in middle virginia and I live by water so my soil is a bit sandy but I seem to have a hard time growing in the soil. So hence, I did them in pots. They are growing so fast and wondering if I am able to take them and put in the ground now? Should I even attempt? Also, I put 2 bulbs in a big pot and now I n3ed to separate...can I transfer one to another pot?

I planted two tomato plants this year in ground and oh my gosh they are absolutely HUGE plants ! Not a lot of fruit but monster plants. The only thing I did when I planted them was to put bio tone fertilizer in the planting hole, may be a mistake ? I’m not planting them in that spot next year for sure. I put them in my flower bed and now they’re shading out a bunch of my perennials. 🥺🌺💚🙃

I almost planted some of my tomatoes in ground this year. So glad I didn't. Dwarf tomatoes would be ok but the indeterminate would take over. Have you topped those tomatoes you planted in ground?

Hi!!! I buy them from a few places. I get seeds from the kiosks in stores like walmart, lowes then I also buy online from Bakers Creek, Swallowtail seeds, Park Seed and one other place I can't remember. You can also save seeds from those plants which is exciting!

Sorry to read about your low germination. I recently ordered a few packs of seeds from them but haven't planted them yet. 🤞🏾 A lot of herbs require cold stratification and surface sowing. Especially if they are perennial. Hopefully, you can try again with any of the remaining seeds in the packet with great success.
