Need to use epoxy primer on the bare metal before anything else. It's going to rust away in 5 years.

Just bought a 97 TJ without knowing about the internal frame issues. When I crawled under it while haggling, all I saw was minor surface rust on the outside frame and said no big deal. Owner even sold it as "No Rust", but I knew better from small stuff I saw. Being in NC I thought well it shouldn't be too bad. Last night I changed the oil and I felt chips and large chunks of rust in the front rail (AFTER watching a "Things to watch out for on buying a TJ" video). Luckily got it for cheap, but not 1800 cheap. Thank you for this informative video and showing me what can be done to save this one. Not sure I can do it, but it gives hope and a parts vendor. This one probably spent time at the beach is my guess.

all these rebuilders always say it looks good just needs a little bit of adjusting but when you look later the lines look the same they couldt get it better.. they hurry way too much to finish so they dont properly finish the steps of pulling etc. not saying he wont finish it but it always bothers me because you can see it in the end results

Question: wouldn't the car now have a salvage title? Because that cuts your resale value in half, unless you purchase a wrecked car, that has not had the car considered a total by the insurance company,

You got the tools to do this job others dont so we can't into this but I like enjoying watching this rebuild!

So much BS that you can sell for 11k. The car has a salvage title due to the major collision. Salvage car sell for around 50% of a clear title. This one will sell for 6k.

New subscriber here. Hope to see more of this prius and the result of what it looks like before selling it and also the price that you sold it for. That will be awesome to see. I wish I knew how to do this kind of work. Body work looks hard to do and I am not a welder and don't know how to weld. Great video.

The words "easy" and "money" RARELY go together. Therefore, take it from someone who has greater experience buying and selling cars ~ IT IS HARD WORK and anyone saying otherwise is mistaken.

Could I get the info on where you got the parts from please. I'm picking up 2 of them tomorrow and im sure I'll need some parts.
@dave11354 күн бұрын
Best way is to pull out the bent metal enough to get access to the spot welds snd drill out and remove bent inner panels. Then use your parts car for replacements. Far easier than hammering out bent metal, plus its the factory recommend method

Are you going to attach drain tubes to the cup holders for the Captain that lead out of the console? It looks like it has fittings for them, and otherwise liquids might end up on your electronics.

Hey man. Might want to check your main battery now. If you didn't unplug the main hybrid battery before welding on the body you could have fried several electrical components. I've seen videos from channels like Electric Supercar who ruined BMS's from not disconnecting the big battery before arcing electricity to the frame. I didn't see a clip of you getting to the battery and disconnecting it so I was curious to see if anything got messed up. Sorry if it was! Hope it's not!!!!! Absolutely LOVE your videos. Also, boostedboys talked about disconnecting the battery from their "plaidessy" before welding the 2 frames together for that reason.

If you think you’re getting a good deal on a clean title car just know it may be hacked together. Inspect it closely.
