Hi. Thanks for making this resource. Could you share resources/ make a video on the chemicals value chain and the molecules/ compounds across each stage of the value chain, across end applications?

I would never ever recommend anyone to be a chemical engineering major. The major is extremely broad and the focus area (mass and energy balances, distillation, plant design, heat exchangers and heat and mass transfer) is mostly only used in oil refineries. This means that either you have to relocate or should just get a petroleum engineering degree instead if you really want to work in a refinery

This is a great presentation. Would youhave a recommendation for a easly to follow diagram that would illustrate how these many different products you list are created through the cracking process. I am trying to help explain the complexity of the ghg lifecycle analysis challenge when allocating emissions to processes generating multiple chemistries at different points.

We were informed by news that in 4 years, 25% of companies in the petrochemicals industry are unlikely to be at risk of margin calls, and this 25% cannot be without infrastructure, and if up to 45% of the industry loses, it could be a game changer. The crux of the problem is that the company in question may have been lying about car sales during inflation, and that the employees of the company in question are likely to be related organizations. The risks of this approach are similar to those of Lehman Brothers, and companies are lose control of technology and capital. We should start thinking about defending this strategy now. And Canadian government construction projects, Benz is also on fire, couldn't even retrieve the remote technology. And it looks like they are preparing for a currency swap, what are the defensive options? I hope they don't intend to show the results in exchange rates. At a time when the US economic crisis is overlapping, I saw news about Google breaking up. is this what the industry calls true education? It just Transcendentalism.

But sir pressure is also mass upon area .... If I reduce my mass by 20 kg and still stand on my foot which remains same in size so will my pressure on floor not be reduced so pressure should be an extensive property Kindly reply

My objective is to become a process engineer and I will explore the other opportunities of research and I'll go for it, if is interests me ....but I'm struck between the courses please help me, one is sustainable system engineering course from Freiburg and process engineering from offenburg. Both are quite good courses and in Freiburg there are believed to be more opportunities than offenburg.... what would you suggest.

I wonder why didn't Germany and Japan produce this en mass during WWII. They had huge problems with gasoline supply and methanol is a good fuel, and you just need coal (for the temperature) and wood (for the feedstock) to make it.
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy Ай бұрын
they did try to use synthetic fuels, but still, back then all these materials came from fossil fuels... Note that approximately 65% of methanol produced worldwide today comes from natural gas, and a very small % from wood. Remember that opearting with solids, and biomass is way harder, you need to have huge fields, cut them, transport, dry, chop into smaller pieces, and only then you can start creating some fuels

@@ChemicalEngineeringGuy From what I remember they were utilizing the Fischer-Tropsch method - conversion of syngas into hydrocarbons - paraffins and olefins. But here we're talking about producing methanol. Is there a technological difficulty level between those two?

Sorry if my question seems dump ,but iam in 1st year of chemistry engineering, actually have just finished it ,and i actually wonder why theres some certian subjects that i took this year ,you didn't mention ,like (organcic chemistry ,phisical chem.,polymers, math 1 2 3 ) so is it bec. That it is the basics i should knew it ,or it is easy to remeber and i will get exposed to it alot ,and thanks very much i really appreciate you for doing that vid ,as it enlights our way as students in the best understanding to that magnificent department❤
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy

Hey there, those are mosly "chemistry" topics... its ok to know about chemistry, but the heart of Chemical Engineering is mostly Process Engineering; so its better to know how to design and operate unit operatins & processes, rather than how chemicals work under chemistry

In an industry where distillation is still king, "Distillation Operation" and "Distillation Design" by Henry Kister are must-haves IMO. While slightly dated, the fundamentals and overview of all the relevant topics to distillation in these two texts is still the best presentation of the material for the practicing distillation engineer or designer that I have encountered. Its the gold standard for distillation reference texts.

Nice! I'm not quite familiar with those specific books, but true, especially if you are going to be working in Distillation Units. I tried to cover "basic" or "general" books as well
