I showed this to one of my Mexican coworkers when we had some downtime. He laughed so goddamn hard it was infectious. From then on, every once in awhile, we would yell at each other: "Cuidado! Llamas!"

There’s a basic plot about a restaurant here, but I always felt like they also threw in any spare lines they had written which didn’t pan out into a full sketch idea, but were funny on their own and they wanted to get them in the show, like the Greek actor having his soliloquy denied by Cleese. This sketch is super random even by Python standards. Also, Palin’s “…not for food, anyway” is my pick for most underrated joke in the series.

When rewatching these old Python sketches, I often find myself wondering who the writers were. Of the writing pairs, Palin/Jones tended to be behind more physical humour and utter bizarreness, some of which might seem in the absurd recipes and Chapman's reactions. However the Cleese/Chapman pair was more about verbal humour, and somehow a lot of animals. And with all the meticulously spelled out animal recipes as well as the name "Mr. Parrot" i figure that this is most likely a Cleese/Chapman sketch. But in that case, Terry Jones does a terrific job with the way he gleefully says all of those recipes, and really inhabits his character. 😂

Great sketch. I do wish there was a way to remove the laugh track. Was this done by the BBC because they thought its audience wouldn't know where to laugh?
