I have lived here my whole life, and we welcome new people. The one thing that is my hope that if you are moving here from a “blue state” leave those blue state politics there. We are conservative and do not want what you maybe leaving brought here. My other rant, fix the freaking roads!

I grew up in Florida during the 1970’s. It was much nicer back then and had amazing beaches and forests that have been destroyed by fast food chains, condos, and strip malls. Clearwater beach used to actually have super clear water. Almost as clear as the Keys used to have. The coral reefs are bleached too. There are just way to many people and it’s way hotter than it used to be. We moved to TN and love it.

I grew up in Chattanooga. Lived in Hixson, Signal Mountain and Brainerd. Went to McCallie, then Red Bank and then finally Hixson high school (smoking cigarettes got me expelled lol). I left in 1990 when I turned 18 and moved to Florida where I still am. It is too expensive in Florida now. Chattanooga sucked when I left but now it's a wonderful town

There are a lot of opportunities here that you can't get in other places. For example, the job unions, but there is a lot of crime here, and the cost of housing and rent is ridiculous.

No idea why KZfaq recommended this to me, but hi from Sand Mountain. Tornados? The most hit place in the world is around Henager Alabama, averaging one a year. It's believed to be because of the angle wind hits the mountain. Every tornado that has hit Chattanooga, touched down their first an made it's way to Chattanooga. So the warning time was around an hour.

It would help if the creator of this video made a distinction between neighborhoods and suburbs. Apison, Ooltewah, Collegedale, Signal Mountain, and Lookout Mountain are all suburbs. In the case of the first three, they are suburbs quite a long way from downtown Chattanooga. Lookout Valley is a neighborhood within the city limits of Chattanooga.

We visited Jasper Highlands a few years back and looked at a couple lots. We were really impressed. However with that being said, what we learned was that we DID NOT want to drive up and down the mountain whenever we wanted to go anywhere. So we passed.

Hi from Ruskin FL. I've just discovered Chattanooga and am very interested in purchasing a vacation rental. Is Chattanooga a good city for investing? Not looking to get rich, just looking for something that can pay for itself and have use of for 3-4 weeks out of the year. Thank you I'm advanced

It might be the wisest choice to move away from the coastlines... There are supposed government whistleblowers saying that the government is aware of an event in 2024 that involves the coast and people should get away from the coasts by 100 miles. I don't know what's happening, but something in the oceans is going to cause a disturbance.

I'm from California move to Tennessee one of my favorites low property tax no state taxes low insurance cost lots of jobs not to many natural disasters. Sport franchises, soon to get in n out burgers. If you want to go to the beach your only 6 hours away

You should have seen Chattanooga in 1959. It had smog like LA and the marble buildings were being eroded by sulfuric acid from people burning coal. My great-grandmother lived there, but we lived almost 70 miles North. I also lived in Cleveland Tn for a while and then Tiftonia. We presently live about 60 miles outside of Memphis, the regional murder capitol, and armpit of the South.

Just a note here. Using the word cheap has negative conatations. You would serve yourself and Cleveland better by phrasing it as "less expensive". I moved to Cleveland in 94 to marry the woman of my dreams and I fell in love with Cleveland as well. I still live here and I am still married to the same wonderful woman. I live in north Cleveland and I am only 35 minutes away from getting to Chattanooga. This is a great little town as you mentioned but has many wonderful restaurants and outdoor activities. Crime is very low and you feel safe at night getting out to do things. Anyone looking for a slower pace lifestyle but also wants to be closer to Chattanooga or Knoxville or even Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville, Nashville should very much consider Cleveland. People are friendly lots to do within an hour or an hour and a half drive.

That's true..there's gangs and lots of crime in many areas sadly. Chattanooga being just above Atlanta and an i-75 corridor city makes it a target for cartel madness. Bad parenting is also to blame for the crime
