hey Gage, idk on what you're playing it on but on pc it's F to skip all the scenes you've seen and it's been there since a long time ago. it shows you on the top right of the screen so maybe it shows if you're on console as well. Great video!

I have some points here about Coral Island: - The game made 1.5 Million USD on it's Kickstarter. - The game is on Version 1.0 but there's a lot missing and or still not working properly sadly. - The game has a LOT of acessibility, such as allowing you to slow down days to 50% - The game is fully compatible to controllers, which is simples, but it has a very bad collision to interact to items in the ground, so some items are hard to grab. There's a lot in Coral Island that is good or better than Stardew, but that's the bare minimum: 3D assets are easier to produce, especially with a budget like they had. The most expensive thing I would say in this whole game is the Art for each character: Art is so damn expensive, I can guarantee that some of those portraits easily can get as pricey as 200USD each depending on the artist. However, it's super harder to work with Pixel Art. Everything the guy who makes Stardew (alone), he needs to spend months creating the sprites. Besides coding. And I don't think he has a big team with him nowadays, nor he ever had a kickstarter to support the project so I still say that what Stardew Valley did was pretty much incredible. Stardew revived a Genre that was forgotten and became the stepping stone every other game will step on top of it, that's why even if the story is different, the mechanics will feel extremely similar. The same could be said to Factorio actually. The only thing I hate right now is how similar the story is to Stardew. It's literally the same plot, but with more believable setup, but I also hate how everyone's houses looks pristine, how everyone looks like they're in pretty good shape. Starlet Town doesn't feel like a declining city, it feels like a city made of wealthy people, who were living peacefully until oil spill made the place slightly dirtier with trash in the water. Besides that? The town still making it's thing, Sam says people don't buy a lot because they have the option to plant their food, so they do just that, people make a LOT of money but I can't tell for sure what half of the citzens do for a job, and where the funding for some of the jobs such as the lab comes from. And again: Every single building, even the starter Museum, looks incredibly nice, and incredibly big if compared to Stardew. If there's one thing that Stardew did right was to make you FEEL like you were in a very small city with people living simple lives, Starlet Town literally feels like they're just rich people living their best life with some smaller issues here and there, and I wish more of the houses were a bit beaten down, like the Fishing side of the town, since the sea is literally fucked up with Oil, they should tell it was harder to catch fish, but Theo catches fish daily XD Anyway, there's a big contrast between what the story wants to convey and what the Design of the houses and all the citzens gives you, it's very disconnected one from the other. Like, really, every time you make something new happen in Stardew Valley it feels like you're making the city grow and be better such as making it have a movie theater. So I hope Coral Island gets better, and become not only a Stardew Clone, but the Best version of stardew Valley, will it ever substitute it? I don't think so, but it's clearly possible to enhance it way faster and easier if compared to a Pixel Art game, which any bigger changes in design would take years to be done and a LOT of rework.

I like stardew alot, thought i never play past year 1, mainly due to the graphics, however after spending the sane amount if time on both games i love the characters, how lively they are just walking around

I'm not sure if I would already agree with that statement... I like Coral Island, the tropical setting, clearing the ocean, the environmental consciousness, and everything but one thing that I think SDV does FAR better are the NPCs... Yes, Coral Island has more of them but they feel so interchangeable... Like apart from a few they don't really have distinct personalities, some are downright forgettable tbh. In addition to that they really need to figure out the lines they say to you. You can be at full hearts and in a romance with them and they'll still say the same stuff to you as in your first conversation with you. So you don't really feel like you're getting to know them better and they're opening up to you. Also as someone who didn't follow early access or was part of the Kickstarter but just found the game on Steam I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in how unfinished the game is. Several features are yet to be implemented and there are a lot of bugs - especially regarding triggering heart events. After doing some research I now know it isn't meant to be finished, but that wasn't clearly communicated imho? Also for a "1.0" Version, I expect something to be finished... sure future updates may come but shouldn't be necessary to enjoy that version. This sounds like I'm maybe overly harsh but I actually enjoy Coral Island, I already racked up over 80h and having a good time while doing so. It has a lot of potential but as of now I wouldn't say it is better than Stardew (yet?)

Coral Island is definitely NOT better than STV, because it is EXACTLY the same as STV. The only main differences are graphics and extreme LGBT propaganda that they are sticking in your nose. They copy-pasted everything from Stardev, including but not limited to crafting, community center completion, museum donation, mining and core game mechanics. You remember Clint gave you a smelter blueprint after you gathered an ore for the first time in STV? Yeah, even that event is the exact same in Rip-off Island. There is again the magical Island/Forest spirit stuff and an evil corporation as the main enemy... You again can't read the ancient writings in the tablets and a forest voodoo thing helps you read them... You have the same bundle stuff to complete and "bring the island back to its former glory". At least STV gave you the option to side with whichever side you wanted. This game is virtue-signaling so much that it's like an educational project trying to push a particular agenda. I can't believe companies can get away with crappy product like this; 0 innovation, no creativity and direct copy-pasting. If you like Stardew, just go back and keep playing it with some mods. It's 50 times better I assure you. If you didn't play Stardew, then go play it and have so much more freedom and fun. This game automatically assumes the player non-gendered, NPCs talk and refer to you as a robot, romance dialogues are the exact same whether you are a guy or a gal etc... I respect everyone's idea but directly imitating Stardew BUT adding this gender politics in the game kinda gives the audience " STV is a good game, we stole it completely but we made it better with our gender ideology because STV lacked in that area". Why would I want to see an LGBT flag in front of community center in a relaxed farm simulation game? 2/10, refunded.

Sure anything with the theme gay is LGBT propaganda. Do you live in a cave? They just want to make a game that represents most people irl. Not like SDV where most characters are white. And not everybody can tolerate the graphics on SDV, Coral Island helps resolve that while brining the same elements that are already proven to be adored by many. Anyway, Coral Island community is better off without toxic negative players like you. Enjoy living in the small world of yours with your white supremacy beliefs.
