Black people will be free when they consider themselves Americans instead of blacks. Your tendency towards diaspora is a fruitless strategy. And your plight for equality is easily seen through as a plight of revenge and tribalism.

I'm sure all these. ladies are lovely and mean well. Unfortunately, at age 82, I have reached the conclusion that constantly talking about past hurts and insults is utterly pointless. Slavery was common until 1865. Americans came to the conclusion it was a bad thing and fought other white Americans to end it in USA. Blacks are still enslaving blacks in Africa today. Maybe these ladies could target a problem of today since they can never change history. My old brain tells me that rehashing old crap serves no good purpose. Let the past die. We have evolved in thousands of ways. Want to hold a grudge because your great-great-great granny died in childbirth because old doc was ignorant about stuff we all know today? Please, I beg you, stop wallowing in victimhood. Do something to make today better because you can't change the past.
@Brooklynsavvy15 күн бұрын
I think you misunderstood the conversation. Everyone of these women is successful and living fulfilling lives. No one is constantly talking about enslavement. We're all making meaningful contributions. It's important to interrogate the past so it is not recreated. This was not a conversation about victimhood it was progressive and thoughtful. Sounds like you may have brought your baggage to it.

Through a collaborative effort with our registrar, Alyssa Ritch-Frel, who is an awesome, licensed genealogist, we were successful in getting George Galphin Sr. and Princess Metawney’s son, George Galphin Jr., recognized, by the Daughters of the American Revolution, as a Forgotten Revolutionary War Patriot of Color. George Jr. (my 5th great grandfather) served in the American Revolution under Patrick Carr’s regiment along with his younger half brother Thomas Galphin, after their father, George Galphin Sr., who served as a Commissioner of Indian Affairs, died as a prisoner of war.

If you’re praying for clarity because you’re in a bad relationship it seems like you already know what you needed to know and are just tucking your decision making behind a ritual. You clearly don’t need the ritual, you just need to be real with yourself and not be a coward.
@Brooklynsavvy2 ай бұрын
Ritual? I think this is the source of the confusion. Prayer is talking to God, Higher Self, Universe it is connecting with and having an intimate relationship with an unseen but ever present force. It's an awesome experience.

@@Brooklynsavvy so u deal with being oppressed on a day to day bases???. There are laws that keep you or whatever minorities in your state from getting the same as everyone else? Check your spelling and read the literature. We're all living our best lives, but we're looking for systems change so that others have the same opportunities. You're missing the point of the conversation.

So just insert dog, shoe or spatula into that sentence instead of "boy" and you should understand how utterly ridiculous it sounds. I remember being told, hey mom I wanna be a transformer, Batman and butterfly among the many things they wanted to be. So I'm a bad mother because I didn't seek medical intervention? Idiots.
