Oh wow. None of that works with me over excited dog. It doesn’t matter which direction I turn there’s a squirrel or a squirrel. He will engage for a bit with the treat and the. Go right back to his summersaults and jumps at treats. I think these are good tricks for certain breeds.

Great job! Daisy and I are currently working on our intermediate title. I am NOT going to ask a beagle to balance a treat though at under a year old. 😂 Maybe later when she's developed more self control.

Nice idea, but as an owner of a Jack Russell, the cat doll is not effective because dogs go for scents first. That nose is turned on always. For my Jack Russell, he would approach that as a stuffy because that’s what it is. Prey Instinct triggers ‘blood in their mouth’ , basically the kill drive-a squirrel or cat. This looks like the dog just thinks this is a new game in order to eat treats. The prey drive has to be activated in order to redirect it.

You could tie a string to the cat with someone behind a tree or walk to make it move, slowly then faster as the dog gets used to it

I am not new to having a multi-dog household, but litter mates will be new for me. I also love training time and have always had good citizen fur babes. In preparation of my litter mates I’ve done some research on the possible signs of this “litter mate syndrome” and training methods and have found that a lot of the content available is preparing me to have two goldendoodles that will fight to the death and the remaining survivor eats my family…

Thanks for this video! I havent watched it all the way yet haha but currently thinking about adding a 3rd dog. We have 1 silken windsprite who is 1,5 yrs old and a almost 8 yr old galgo mix. They have gotten used to eachother but they really cant play together due to very different play styles, size and temperament. I am really hoping keeping one of our pups from the windsprite would help that (or add one from another breeder) but I am also very concerned for the dynamics. My eldest dog tends to do well in pack walks etc and is pretty reactive on his own, so maybe for him it would also be better. But its not like you can try it out, it is a living being after all and a big commitment. Hopefully I will have more clarity after the whole video you made! <3 Both of my dogs are wonderfull though. We still need some extra training to be 'perfect' but I cant complain :D

I had to switch off at 8 mins in. If you can make fun of and scoff or snigger or whatever way you want to describe your behaviour towards an opposing view to yours when you are trying to come across as all caring and loving is ridiculous!! And I stopped because U don't even understand the very basics of the word or basic understanding of what you are opposing it's a joke. Being dominant or being the alpha is not about aggression I don't know where U get your info from. If it's possible for Rotties and pit bills to live in a pack and the leader, the alpha, the dominant one of the pack can be a 3 legged, 1 eyed, 15 year old cat then it can't be about aggression or might or any other nonsense you guys try and sell. Stop trying to push your agenda and beat out anyone who doesn't agree with you it sounds like you guys are bullies which is exactly what U say U are against lol. Give up talking smack and do what is best for the dogs and not what's best for nonsensical nonsense movement, U do more harm than good👌

If you'd shown us with a dog with an actual prey drive I might have been impressed. She showed only mild interest at about 5 yards! My GSD loses her mind if she spots a cat 500 yards away and it takes 20mins to calm her down again even if I turn around and go the other way.

this is a good training vided for the idig. My issue is my pup is very little (4lbs) which means has to stand in it to dig. After watching I understand that I can only let him dig and not sit on it, which he has and I have let him in the past.

I have owned Malamutes for nearly 30 years. I always use positive reinforcement. Malamutes are extremely intelligent, and they are stubborn. Adult Malamutes can absolutely think through decisions. In ways other breeds cannot. They think no; I do not want to do stupid human things; I want to do Malamute things, don’t be ridiculous. While you can train a Mal to do almost anything. They get bored quickly because they are so smart. I will change food during training sessions to keep them engaged, and I keep training to around ten minutes, depending on the Mal. Many things are a game to a Malamute. We want to encourage positive Malamute games. I have never met a Mal who was not food-motivated. A well-trained, well-behaved Malamute is a celebrity everywhere they go.

Thank you. This video did a great job demonstrating how to play and calm the dog. My teenage dog is extremely excitable and hit's his arousal tipping point very quickly during play and in a very short time he's jumping and biting at me instead of his toy. I'm hoping that this will help to bring that into control. I will definitely be watching this again and putting this into practice. Thanks again.

What about when we have a pack of dogs. Do we do this with them individually? I see you have more than one dog in the room. We have 4! they are terrible! they hear a car drive by and they go bananas!!! I don't know how to teach them not to stress about that... They react to the sound of the gate, the site of people walking up the path etc. They are friendly. This is the worst! it's so startling and horrible for the family. We are good with dogs but are at a loss with 4 of them.

@@patmunro3531 genuinely asking are you all well with like your IQ levels? I’m having so many problems with my dog. We’ve been using the long line since he was a puppy and I have rewarded for his attention and done tons of successful recall but then he gets bored with that and everything is a huge distraction and I can’t get past him then reaching the end of the line all the time, even worse if he’s near water. I can get a good loose leash on a collar walk near to home. How do I get past everything being such a distraction he’s constantly pulling.

Would suggest doing this in a small area where dog can’t hide? Our lab loves playing fetch with tennis ball which she can do that all day unless but she hears loud noises, trash truck, bus, construction trucks she starts pacing as you said. Starts jumping on things or hide in small areas which usually results in knocking things over. After that play time is over but I guess our frustration is the mess she makes when she goes through this and we just want to help her feel safe. Our dachshund just looks at her like what in the world is wrong with her but we also got him as a puppy where the lab we got from the pound two years ago and she’s about three
