I am a starch to death girl. I don’t always starch, but when I do, I like cardboard. The fabric in the box was fantastic! Hugs to Dandelion!

I give this box a 5 as well and can’t wait for mine to get here! I know how you feel! Pets can be so stressful!!! I’m a new quilter so I’ve never used starch yet but I’m interested in other comments!

5. I started with best press, but I moved to spray search and I like it. I could never take the time to do what Kimberly does… I mean you would have to have a tanker truck deliver what you needed for that craziness. Be well Dandelion.

I like Primitive Gatherings, but it’s not always my vibe. But her stuff is always nice. I probably wouldn’t get the box because of my own vibe, but I give it a 4…only because you have to add a lot of your own stuff for the projects. Everybody can keep their mustard…lol, it’s a turn off for me. It’s the man bun of fabric. My own opinion.

So I'm going to say that one reason I dropped the Primitive Gatherings box was because you had to buy so much extra fabric to complete a project. I don't like that about this Sew Sampler box. I prefer if they give you something you can finish... I understand a little bit more fabric, but when it is a lot, it feels like it just got more expensive. Maybe a tablerunner is a better idea for this one because I do like the curved ruler and the fabric!! Thank you for showing the boxes!!

I give this box a 5. I feel like Sew Sampler has better items in it now. And I do think the value is awesome. That sewline pen is one of my favorites. I tend to use Niagara Spray starch. And I do love Best Press. I usually only starch for small piecing. Hugs to you with your worries of sweet Dandelion.

Nice box, I give it a 4! Hope Dandelion feels better soon! I lightly starch with half water/half best press then iron. I have no idea how people have the time or space to starch like Kimberly Jolly! 😂

So worried about Dandelion. I'm glad you are keeping the box. 5/5. I do use Best Press, let it hang on my clothes rack, then iron it the next day. I love the results.

I don’t have the patience to do all of that starching. Kimberly, Jolly, from what I understand, will take all the yardage she needs for a project and starch it all. I’m too impatient. I dig in, find my fabric and start to cut it, then I think ‘oh I should’ve starched it’. Except now everybody says don’t use Best Press, spray starch or anything unless you’ve already starched the fabric. Well, if you’ve already starched the fabric, why do you need to spray starch? they say using steam, a spray bottle of water, spray starch, Best Press, any of those, can shrink up your fabric. So if you start to cut some thing and then spray starch it it’s not gonna fit to the next piece you try and stitch. It’s so confusing. I’ve taken to just dry ironing everything. So far so good.

Love that layer cake fabric!! Starch or no starch??? It depends on the use of the fabric. Foundation paper piecing or English paper piecing-- no starching necessary. Intricate piecing with small pieces or bias cut pieces, such as diamonds, HSTs, flying geese, yes starch, with diluted bottled starch, before cutting. Borders, not to be wavy, yes, with Best Press. For binding, no starch. Applique cuts? Depends on the finish, such as needle turn, raw edge, and so on. For flat blocks, dab on Best Press or Flatter on the seam, for flatness. Holly, you are a prepared YT channel. I have tried to watch channels when the presenter leaves the camera to get some item for their tutorial. What items? Rotary cutter, ruler, etc. They could edit these out. Cooking videos are the worst. I have briefly watched videos when a key ingredient is not available. Such as pecan baked goodie, but no pecans, "I'll just have walnuts." No lemon, "Skip that". No brown sugar. "Use white sugar instead." and the list goes on, including missing cooking tools, where the camera is left on as the presenter scurries off to get the item. The most prepared videos? Lori Holt.

I like this box very much. I’ve got a pencil similar to that one already and I love it, I also have the smaller rotary cutter and love it too. I don’t see any fables in that fabric, I think I would’ve like to see some fantastic creatures hidden amongst the flowers, but the colors are nice. And I really like the clammy ruler and pattern. If I ha had that box, I would be very impressed by price versus value. I give this one a five.

I don't wash regular quilting or lawn fabrics but I use spray starch when pressing before cutting, and I use the Acorn pen on all seams when pressing. I find the starch makes cutting more precise and seams lie perfectly flat.

Love this sew sampler box, I'd give it a 5. It would be one I would get if I could afford it. I starch like Kimberly, (sta flo I dilute 50/50) I soak it hang it to dry and press. So much better for cutting, love how things line up. Oh no, prayers for Dandelion being sent, our fur babies are everything. I have pool noodles I put on my clothes line to hang 1 or more yards at a time, otherwise I just use a small drying rack. Thank you Holly, stay cool, it's a hot one today (Monday 26th).

I would give it a 5 and a 5. Most of the time, I do not starch; however, I sometimes will use Best Press on all before I cut. I also like Flatten. Kimberly is nuts; although most of the time she has one of her staff, Teresa, so the starching for her. If I had a minion, then I would starch! Hell yeah! You look very pretty. I like your hair straight as well as curled. Take care. Love you lady! ❤️

This one is a 5 for me - I already have the background and accent picked out! Definitely a great value, and I love the fabric as well. I feel like this box is definitely for me - I've only gotten two of them so far, but I've already made the last one, and this one is high on the list to come next. Question of the Day: nope. no starch. I think it's avoidance from searching all my dad's hankies as a kid - that's how I learned to iron, and while starching is fine, I haven't really required it so far (but I do sometimes reminisce about those hankies!) Hugs to Dandelion and you both!

I love the box...only wish you had waited a few days to open. Mine only just shipped and yes, I could gave not watched but it's like opening Christmas each month! I feel like FQS steps up really well for awhile and then slides back down making me wonder if it's time to stop them, but then they step it up again! I'm enjoying them while I can! As for starching, I tried Kimberlys way but had colors run onto other colors while drying so I've gone back to best press and not all the time. If I'm doing smaller pieces or fabric doesn't have much sizing in it, then I starch. Otherwise I just spray completed blocks with best press.

Sad to hear about you Dandelion. Sending get well vibes and wishes. I Starch my quilts when ironing to be layered for the quiting process. Just use plain spray starch. See you next video. Have a great day!

Happy Monday and good morning to you all! An excellent box this time for sure. Gorgeous fabrics, amazing notions - I've already added that mechanical pencil to my cart; I've *never* seen a white fabric marker that actually works before - and two patterns for only $30? That's a real bargain. How they make any profit at all from this subscription is beyond me. 5 out of 5 on this one. Different fabric stores have different rules. One that I go to will happily cut an eighth of a yard (4" is their minimum), and another will only cut yardage in increments of a quarter. So you can get a quarter of a yard, or a half, but not a third. Go figure, eh? Do I starch my fabrics? Usually, yes, although very lightly. Before cutting, I'll hit it with a spray of Best Press on the wrong side & give it a good once-over with the iron. I have found that BP sometimes leaves behind a bit of a shiny residue, so I try not to use it on the front of the fabric unless absolutely necessary, such as a stubborn seam that will not lie flat, or a bit of binding that insists on coming unfolded no matter how many times you press it down. I've watched the "drown it" method videos and geeze louise that's a lot of time-consuming work! Not happening, nope. Poor Dandelion. She's had a rough year, hasn't she? Hope all goes well with the vet visit & that she feels better soon. And in the same vein, I hope all goes well with you at the dentist, too. And you know what? Well wishes for Tom, too, that he may continue in good health. It's hard when those we care about are in pain or suffering in any way, and I'm sure this is all stressful for him, too.

Poor Dandelion. ❤ My Artemis has arthritis in her hips. She's 8 years old and has had it since she was about 7. The vet gave her some supplements, and she's still wiggly, playful, and happy. I wish I could take them for MY arthritis. 😂 No, I don't starch my fabric before cutting/sewing. We're lucky I iron it at all. 😬 As for being the most unprepared KZfaq creator, I think that might be me. Generally, about 5 minutes after I post a video, I realize I forgot to talk about at least 3 different things I had written in my notes. 😅 I think you do a fabulous job! ❤ P.S. I also play Dr. Mario on my Switch. 😁

I do not starch. After being a military wife and having to make my starch and starching uniforms for 10 years, I am so past that. Lol. Yesterday Penelope, our cat, brought us a live mouse. My husband got it out of her paws with a wad of paper towels. Then he took it back outside and locked Penelope's catdoor so she couldn't bring it back in. She vocalized her distaste at being locked in and having her offering taken away for quite awhile. Our older cat, Bagheera, got tired of listening to her whining and went downstairs to sleep. Drama drama. We had a few days of 80-degree weather here this weekend. My husband went on a mountsin bike ride and froze to death. It was 51 in the Valley, but 40 up there in the mountains for a couple of hours. It will be going back up into the 90s, though. I got to sleep with my bedroom window open for 2 nights. The smoke from forest fires was low, too. I survived another year of July weather over a 100 degreesI believe we never went over 109 Woohoo.
