As far as I’m aware, no one has made a 100% damageless tas. The tricky parts would be items that require the use of shinesparks. The ones that I think would be tricky is wrecked ship reserve tank and crateria super missiles. Items like Main Street missiles are definitely possible and have been done RTA, but those other ones may require blue suit of some kind, and acquiring that without taking damage is not something I’m sure can be done, but I don’t have all that knowledge!

Because TAS is actually an acronym for Theodore, Alvin, Simon. With 3 chipmunks making inputs all at once, they can pull things off that one single human simply can not!

Hey Zieg! Thanks so much! Haha it was definitely a lot of work. Approximately 150 hours went into making this, but it is definitely no where near the level of quality and optimization as some of the other TASs out there. To answer your question, no, it is impossible to avoid the rainbow beam attack without using major glitches, which I did not do in this run. @@wild2929 thanks for replying :) I was just wondering what do you think of Top Speed Runners like Zoasty? He’s got multiple WRs of this game, how would you compare this to someone like that? I mean I’m talking about the run itself not the person doing it if you get what I mean. I just find it incredible how you people know like such incredible strats, and shit to get through every area Super quickly. I mean there’s so many damn rooms, and i you have to know which order of each room and item to get is the fastest too….

@@doopliss6648 it just comes from years of experience. You just start to learn things from other people and think about the game in different ways as your knowledge of the game increases. So for this TAS, I took my knowledge from speedrunning the game for years and applied the strats that I already knew, as well as needed to develop new ones specifically for no damage. Are they all the fastest and optimized to perfection? No, definitely not, that wasn’t my goal in making this. My goal was to just have fun and make something that had not been made before. It just takes time and dedication, and the community is welcoming and happy to share their knowledge (I love answering questions for people) so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to ask about things!

Great question! During the final boss battle with Mother Brain, she does her rainbow beam attack that is unavoidable. With both suits, it does 300 damage, so in order to survive this unavoidable damage, at least 3 energy tanks are required to complete the game.

Nope! Draygon’s goo never do damage. It has an interesting effect when it hits you but you shoot it at the same time (I believe that’s what happened) where it causes Samus to flinch as if she took damage but they do not actually do any damage.

Great question! Because in Super Metroid, shinesparks take away health while you’re flying, unlike in the GBA Metroid games where you can spark for “free.”

There are runs that do this, called new game plus (NG+), and you can find that on the speedrun.com page under category extensions.

There's a fangame (which I will not name, to protect its existence from Nintendo) that has a mode called Strike Mode. You start with maximum health and ammo, and all upgrades, but enemies don't drop anything. All items from Chozo statues have been replaced with health/ammo refills.

I forgot what year it is. Thought you posted this last month. I still think it'd make an interesting TAS category, particularly how to optimize bowling alley.

Ranzear the problem is there are already so many tased categories for super metroid they aren't too keen on taking more "arbitrary" ones, based on the fact that the 100% map tas was initially rejected on that premise. Also this is no where near up to their standards for a super metroid tas, so me or someone else would have to redo it and optimize it a lot more for it to be considered.

Are you wondering how I went through the pirates hitbox? While enemies are taking damage from a power bomb, they have invulnerability frames. During these, you are able to "hitbox", or pass through, enemies without taking damage because their collision hitbox that the game uses to determine if you need to take damage or not does not exist while they are taking damage from a power bomb. You can see this in speedruns where the route includes the plasma beam, there are red ki hunters that you are able to do a similar thing with, where you shoot them right before you would collide with them and you can run through without taking any damage.

Yeah, the whole thing took nearly 150 hours over the course of a few months, working on it for 37 unique days :) Definitely proud of it, but there is obvious areas where there can be a lot of improvement. But for my first TAS, I am happy with it. Especially with that bomb jump, because not only was it extremely difficult, but it was the first time it has been done in a TAS of Super Metroid.

Yea It was a pretty awesome tas. Now lets do it none tas.

Me and a few others have completed a no damage run before, with the exception of the Ceres Ridley fight, because that is incredibly difficult to do real time, and also requires really good rng.
