I just wanted to say that it might be worth it to talk to some rescues as well. For example the Southern California Pit Bull Rescue went to rescue a dog and the shelter knew and accidentally put her down. Also The Pug Queen and many interested parties were trying to rescue a pug who needed a surgery and knowing this they still put the pug down. The surgery was something that could be corrected with the proper resources. These were Riverside County shelters.
