Beautiful! I was as far from New York City as you can be on this planet when it happened, on an island off Australia, but my world changed that day, our world changed that day & I will always remember the feeling I had for all those people I’d never met in a country as far, yet as close as two countries could be. So I had a family member by marriage who was killed on 9/11 in the towers. I think about your question often. What must he have thought in those final moments? It's not possible to know. We'll never know. I think where I landed all these years after that horrible day is here: we can only hope that death was so quick they did not suffer much. In their moments before their untimely and unspeakable deaths, I hope they thought of the people they love. Or of a favorite memory. Or of something that brought them peace. And then, I hope they died quickly so they did not have to suffer.
