Great video which has given me the courage to try it. I have one question. Should I keep the master cylinder reservoir screwed in so the fluid doesn’t get all over the place? Thanks again
@ManCalledHorse
@ManCalledHorse Ай бұрын
You can just keep the cover resting on top. But If you screwed it in, it's like putting your hand at the end of a hose and create it's own vacuum at the top not allowing the air to help the brake fluid exit the bottom. Hope that helps and thanks for the watch and question!

Looked like your first outer clutch plate (type-1) was in the same slot as all the rest. That outer one should be offset to the other slot.

It's not an "issue". Every motorcycle with a clutch system will at some time have to replace their clutch plates. Just wear and tear. I hope this helps!

There's a bolt on the left side of the bar that holds the rectifier. Just remove that, and it hinges everything out of the way.

Great video very easy to follow instructions. Would it make the process faster if you were to syphon or suck out some of the fluid from the reservoir and putting new stuff in before starting the bleeding process?
@ManCalledHorse

One, thanks for watching and the feedback. Two, There is a suction device that can pump the brake fluid through . That totally an option. BUT (a big but) don't use your mouth, that stuff is super, super toxic and corrosive (it will eat your paint is in seconds). I wouldn't use your mouth for safety reasons, but you can use this method or the brake fluid pump. 😊

I have a 2018 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700 and at the freeway over 60-70MPH the RPM's rev high, but the speed goes up slowly. Bike is only 7,000 miles, but I did a lot of slow speed practice. Do you think could be same issue? Burned clutch?
@ManCalledHorse
@ManCalledHorse 8 ай бұрын
It does sound like your bike is heading in that direction of a clutch change. Same symptoms. I have a video about trying to tighten the clutch cable. I would try that first to see if that fixes your issue. It does sound like your clutch is slipping to some degree. If your clutch continues to slip or worsens after tightening the clutch cable, then you're most likely looking at the clutch replacement. Hope this helps!
@ricardok5593
@ricardok5593 8 ай бұрын
@@ManCalledHorse in my case, slipping at high RPM's, it was the clutch. It was worn out. Replace is easier tough, because this bike does not have cooling lines on the cover, the water pump is on the other side Your video is good, teach about what to expect. Good job.

So, what if I made a mistake a rode like I normally do, unaware of the break in period, but I only did it a few times, am I ok ? I rode with new brakes and they still sounded like metal on metal. I rode it like I normally do for only about 15 minutes, and then I started trying to follow the directions of 50mph, 40pmh, and so on. It's been less than 10 miles and they still sound like metal on metal, is that normal ?
@ManCalledHorse
@ManCalledHorse 10 ай бұрын
The grinding sound is most likely your brakes forming to your rotors. This can happen and you might smell a weird odor from your new brakes. It is just everything settling in . But if you hear a loud squealing and it is hard to brake (as if they are not biting (gripping) as hard as they should) you might have glazed your rotors. The easy fix for that is cleaning your rotors. I have a video for changing brakes which I clean the rotors. I hope this helps!

23 years ago, i graduated from mcrd san diego in this exact parade deck. I was also first battalion, delta company. Then four years after that, i went as a visitor to watch my cousin graduate as the platoon honor man. Some years later, i was there again to watch my same cousin in this same ceremony as the drill instructor retiring guidon, and this time i got to sit in the vip booth. Talk about a full circle moment. To be honest, i felt unworthy of sitting in that booth, not sure why he invited me. Maybe i influenced him in a positive way to join the corps, though he's never told me directly. I was no honor man or former DI. I was a good marine, but i only did my four and got out. He on the otherhand, stayed in did multiple tours, was a two time DI at mcrd and OCS. He's still raising hell in there, now a 1st sgt and approaching his 20 yr mark. He's hoping to get sgt maj soon, i think he'll get it. I'm now in my mid 40s, and i guess in a way im bicuriosly living out my military career through him wondering what might have been if i had stayed in. I admire what he had the courage to do that i did not.
