It’s pronounced Por-Sha. Not Porsh. You should have shown the engine bay. Is it jet drive or turning an inboard propeller? What have they done to protect all f the electrical components from the corrosive effects of salt water? Where do you charge the boat? How much does it weigh vs an ICE version of the same boat? And of course range questions.

Beautiful boat and very neat work ..i also noted the classic RR or Bently in the background. Someone clearly recognises this places workmanship. I would want to pad that rough concrete mooring he pulled up to with all that perfect bright work 😉😂🧙🏻‍♂️🇬🇧 Just as a mention and on the same topic Nautistyles Paid a visit to Holland and Germany and having taken a trip on a wonderfull old large companies directors vintage motor launch that had been converted. They visited a local company that was doing this fine work on original pleasure launches that the company had built in the years between the wars mostly.. they restored them and then converted them so they could still be used on lakes and rivers. Again very elegant slipper hull designs. By converting they increased their performance in many cases as well as cleaning up the whole buisness of owning and running boats that would have run quite crude automobile petrol engines. 😎⚡🌀🌊

@@aqualectric-gi2ln There's an awful lot of diesel di-hards out there that don't seem to accept the fact that it's Possible to power a boat using electric motors and use a smaller power pack but back it up with a separate high efficiency generator running on multiple fuels and still make an equivalent 20- 30% fuel saving over a troublesome and complex diesel engine.. that still has to be supported by high output alternators, solar/wind turbines or an actual separate and heavy generator🤔 Take a look at Windelo's work and the visits done by the barefoot doctors ...I mentioned your work to them.. They are back cruising in Turkey this week...a major boat building and sailing center for Europe and beyond. They are trying to work out what system would suit their Al Portofino performance cruising cat. The big Chinese companies have announced they will reduce the price per KWhr of batteries by 50% by the end of this year and by 2028/30 to a point where it will cost I think the boss of Cattle said, to less than $30 per KWhr. Check the Australian Vikings channel. The other things that are coming up fast are Na batteries with capacities bettering Li Phosphate cells and whole new chemistries using Sulpher and Al.

Thanks to Sophi and for joining forces with Plug boat ... ive tried helping various people by pointing them to their Whats actually available resources but we know what happens to usefull fact technical links 🙄 or even mentioning alternative tech information or Scientific research papers. 🌌🧙🏼‍♂️🇬🇧 Theres some very irrational and reactionary comments come flying in when you mention electric propulsion .. but theres also a lack genuine experience reaching the public . Theres not just the propulsion technology that needs to change but also the materials construction and design philosophies...and how boats are built, used and ultimately repurposed and recycled. Congratulations for de fugging this one in action ... describing the max sea state of various models might have helped ... however as this is Scandinavian boat you know that they are going to have covered that in their development. If you want to go fast on water its simply more efficient to mostly terrain fly over it. Simple 😎.

Why did you choose a displacement hull and not a pontoon style hull? Seems like more efficient displacement would offer longer battery life. Also, what it the entire weight of the boat? We do swim support in the SF Bay and these would be really great since our longest swims are around 12 miles at around 3-5 knots. All and All, still a very cool boat. . . .

Pure Watercraft actually has a Pontoon that they are releasing very soon, which actually has a partial hydro-foil wing for added efficiency. As for the Highfield rib, there are different applications for different boats and its always great to have options. The weight of the Highfield 420 with 1 battery pack is 911 lbs.

You mised the best maker of the complete system in use: Torqeedo...why?
@aqualectric-gi2ln
@aqualectric-gi2ln 2 ай бұрын
A valid question. The simple answer is that time at the show is limited, and I would rather spend it highlighting cool tech from up and coming companies that would benefit more from the exposure, rather than the biggest. Also, in my opinion, Torqueedo has a good system, but it is not the best. There are other motor manufacturers with more performance that also offer a complete system. Lastly, thank you very much for watching the video!

Id love it if you could organise a chat and meet the designers and makers at Advanced Electric Machines from the NE of 🇬🇧 .. they produce some very interesting and green motors that don't need rare earth's or even copper for windings. So are very simple to recycle and cheaper to make. Their motors are powerful modular and efficient and they have mastered the controlling hard and software to drive their motors and regenerate. 🌌🧙🏼‍♂️ They started out as a spinoff from local university research work. Durham university also developed an ultra compact and light opposed free piston generator that is perfect for small boats .. it is also simpler to make not needing a crank bearings or Conrods.

You always provide good content but when you talk to battery packs manufacturers I would pressure them on why automotive suppliers such as CATL are targeting $50/kWh in 2024 at HV pack level while marine applications are apparently stuck offering products that cost 10 times as much. When are their prices going to come down? We can’t expect just scale to drive the ramp.

@aqualectric-gi2ln 3 ай бұрын
Thanks very much for your comments. Yes price/kwh is definitely an issue, and compounded by the size of boat, and battery capacity needed. I'll be doing a series on marine high voltage batteries and interviewing battery suppliers, and we can definitely ask those questions.

For leisure yachts the roundtrip metrics, economics and logistics on hydrogen FC never quite add up, not to mention regulations that, at least here in the EU and except for some ports are non existent, despite countless conferences. Ruling out making your own H2 on board, we are stuck with type 3 pressure tanks at 300+ bars or trucks on the jetties filling up some sort of on board tanks. It’s just not happening in marinas. PEM stacks are also very expensive to replace. I am more inclined to think we will crack cold fusion than a viable FC based marine powertrain for leisure yachts.

@MrJuanmachuca 0 seconds ago It would depend on the Motor - Battery pack - hull size combination. For instance, the one in this video is using a 40Kw AC Motor with a 10Kwh LiFePo4 Battery pack within a 10' hull, that in this case reaches a speed of 30mph (26knots). But of course you may put a 100Kw motor with a 40Kwh Li-Ion Battery pack and you may reach 60 - 70 Mph.
