Easiest horse I rode to transition down was a retired 4* eventer. It was just lots of downwards force into both stirrups and he popped into trot. Not a clue and didn't ask how that is taught to a horse, but its a really nice way to do it.

Gosh this is so different than all the videos we're used to see about dressage ..it is super efficient to see you mimicking the moves and the explanation etc.. watching your videos is like finding the missing pieces to understand ..sometimes watching dressage and riding clinic i was left wandering 🤔what do they mean ? thank you so much !

I wish i knew you existed while working in London .. as a French rider and knowing the meaning of "dressage" you're right and in fact , this is the exact purpose of some of the oldest and greatest French equestrian institutions such as Cadre Noir de Saumur ...a 500 years old tradition .. to develop better understanding and partnership / response from the horse ...

So 1) i am going to make a bench and will put the saddle on .. the "banana" position if in understand is keeping the upper part of the body straight but we move - shift slightly our hips and bottom -as the horse is sensitibe and feel the difference in weight on his back ? thank you so much for your fun and super informative videos :-)

The banana is making sure that while the horses body might bend... you are keeping your seat over the middle of the backbone, even if it feels like your body is being pushed into the bend of the banana.

Hi Alicia! It's Regi. Thank you so much for finally explaining the mechanics of this. It's only when you understand the actual mechanics that the concept makes logical sense. Can you please make future videos without the overwhelming music? It really is way too overstimulating and it literally makes me have bad neurological meltdowns so it's makes all of the YRS content really difficult and actually neurologically dangerous for me to watch. The music is unnecessary and does nothing to enhance the content. It only makes it almost impossible for people with sensory processing disorder, like mine, to be able to watch and fully learn from the videos. Thank you so much. ❤️🐎

if you are for example going around an arena - the outside is towards the outside of the arena, even if you are going straight down a long side. If you are going in a circle the inside and outside are very straightforward :)

I absolutely love your training video’s!! They’re pretty easy to understand, follow, and remember so I can easily try on my horse when I get to the ranch. I actually ride primarily western and barrels, however, I can see the importance of good horsemanship no matter what discipline. I actually am really starting to love the dressage.

I have a question regarding one of the earlier videos from when you explained extension, is to rise bigger. In Denmark even the almost lowest classes is in sitting trot. How to extend in sitting trot? Is it to sit and think taler and get the feeling of lifting up to the roof, like in a walk to trot transition? :)

Hello! So this is a great question - couple of things to point out - at the lower levels we never do an extended trot. An extended trot is a collected lengthening (lengthening of the collected trot). At the lower levels, you are doing a lengthening of the stride. So it's very important to realise the difference, because there is a very significant difference. If you can't do a rising trot, to lengthen the stride you will simply have your hips moving in a larger fashion. So when you rise, you can ride and change the speed at which you ride to influence the horse, when you are sitting, you can change the 'looseness' of your hips - when your hips are tighter in a smaller trot, and for a larger trot your hips are going to be looser. There are definitely a couple of things that I would get a little bit more information on. At the lower levels you never do an extended trot, an extended pace is within collected paces. I actually did quite a lot of research about this because it would be very abnormal for Demark as a specific country not to allow rising in the beginning level of the sport. Certainly LD level is very clearly states you are able to rise trot. And in LC it doesn't specifically say that you cannot rise trot. So I spoke to some senior judges that I know about this, and they would find it highly unlikely that you couldn't. So the question I am suggesting that is probably worth asking a top level judge in Denmark is - at LD level so I need to sit trot? That's just the first thing I would say so that you have complete clarity on what you can and cannot do!

Hi, you instructed the rider to “tap once make him rounder, look where you’re going.” What is the rider doing to make him rounder?

I love this sort of question question, because this just highlights the 'holes' in the current education system in terms of learning how to ride dressage. When you are learning how to ride dressage in a traditional format, as you saw in this video, the coach is doing their best, striving how to articulate what a rider needs to do, but actually you can't fit enough words into a sentence to explain to a rider what to do. In this case, this rider didn't particularly know what was meant by 'rounder'. So now, from this, we have managed to put her into a seminar, and educate her in the theory on what rounder means and what you can do to make the horse rounder and she has thrived! For this question, make them 'rounder' means create an open door by making the shoulder more upright i.e. 'upright straightness' which gives access to the backbone to become one solid piece. Little bit lost still? I'm sure you are because there are a lot of people out in the industry that are! What you need is theory. What you need is to understand this from a theoretical level. I think this is the first video of yours I watched after stumbling across your channel. I have to say at first I was like what is this woman doing using her Grand Prix horse as a school horse! I thought here we go another crazy dressage woman! I still think you’re a little crazy but after watching more videos I can really appreciate what you’re doing! You have such nice horses! I think this is amazing! Most people would never get the opportunity to experience riding these high level horses! What a treat! I live in the states but I’d jump on a plane in a New York minute to ride one of these horses! Im even getting use to your squealing and over the top enthusiasm! Hahaha… sorry couldn’t resist!

Totally agree.. Correct use of spur can make your contact lighter and more precise. The other reason for requiring the spur at this level should be to demonstrate that you as a rider have the control and sensitivity to use the spur correctly and with sensitivity.. Same goes for use of the double bridle. The main issue is that judging really does not penalize incorrect use of either of these tools, so I disagree with those lobbying for allowing snaffle at Grand Prix as an incorrectly used snaffle can be worse than a curb bit... We need to learn to use our tools correctly and fix the judging so that overuse of spurs and curb rein are not ignored so that the original goal of demonstrating that you as a rider have reached the level that you can use these tools with sensitivity.
