Wait are those young osprey? Why would another osprey do this?
@joseantoniosuarez8613 Жыл бұрын

Extremely interesting. I have been watching the nest since the beginning and wish I had been able to participate live. I look forward to the next time we can have a gathering there. Good luck Michael with your research. We will keep counting the fish :-)

Sorry I missed this live discussion. A question I have is why do some Osprey couples share all of the duties like incubating and feeding the chicks, but others do not? I stopped watching another Osprey nest after seeing 2 chicks starve to death. There was always plenty of fish, but the male would drop it off and leave so the 2 in the back of the nest couldn’t get up to the front due to the other 2 being there and no more room, or bonking. Riv, you are the best!

It's one of My favorite nests for these years~though last season I happened to witness How the first 🐣 was frozen to death 💔 & I still believe that the 🐣 could be saved If 👥 nearby CAN do something Not just 👀* ...(that Savannah's tiny 🐣 could be saved Every Year,too 🙀 No interference is only But excuse to ME~~)

I love “ my Ospreys” they are like my babies. I only live about 1 mile directly N. of their nest...I share pic on Facebooks and encourage people to download their nest.P .S one thing I’ve never figured out is why in the world did “ my birdies” build their nest so close the the fairgrounds? Lol. Vicki
@RivOspreyNotes4 жыл бұрын
Likely the ample trout supply from the nearby stocked ponds drew them in, plus the presence of a poles and light arrays, etc. for nest-building. Ospreys will even build their nests on freeway signs if there's good fishing to be had nearby and no better nesting place.

Why isn’t Ospreys info on bottom of their nest,as I can know what’s going on with the eggs etc. How do I get all info when eggs hatch etcAll used to be there for several yrs along with people’s everyday comments thank you Vicki emptynsttwo@ aol.com

Hi Vicki! Milestones like eggs laying, hatching, and fledge are on Boulder County' web page. The summary is on the right if viewing on the computer and down below chat if on a phone. There's also a timeline below chat. www.bouldercounty.org/open-space/management/osprey-camera/

@@fidelaromo6705 Chicks #1, #2 and #3 died between June 3-4. They may have died from bacteria, parasite, virus, or some other cause. This was posted on their website, they had some kind of fish which had some kinda lead or mercury poisoning. The #4 chick missed on that feeding hence survived.
