This exercise triggers in me a laughing response. I think it may be because the belly vibrates similar to belly laughter…

I think Stephen Porges misrepresents Stockholm syndrome here. From wikipedia, "Stockholm syndrome is a proposed condition or theory that tries to explain why hostages sometimes develop a psychological bond with their captors" It's definitely not just "you've been abducted, and you must have loved the guy." It seems to me that Stockholm syndrome can totally encompass a "skilled neurobiological strategy for survival" - developing a psychological bond with the captor would straightforwardly follow from this.

In major depression we have to pretend we are happy... to look like bipolars, at least you look cool that way. 😂

Continuity of the comfortable/ safe/ intact self is required, right! Despite interruptions, distractions and all activities and interactions....am I getting it right? It's essentially about catching up with good healthy sense of self....

It takes perseverance and patience. However if a client is determined not to go there this is challenging.

He said interpersonal trauma within the context of attachment relationships sends people to the psychiatrist...it makes sense. How many people had adequate relationships in their family...??? Not as many as you may think.
