I really appreciate the realism around spending and the different kinds of emotional spending. I also spend whenever feeling strong emotions.

Emotional spending is the pits, isn't it? We overspend cause we're feeling down, we overspend cause we're feeling anxious, we overspend cause we're feeling on top of the world, and then we're anxious about that purchase we just made and then the cycle starts again... 🤦♀️Thank you so much for appreciating the realism of my reviews. 🥰

Glad to see you back! Congratulations on passing your first level in debt-tres this year! Debt repayment is about progress and not perfection. When I was in school all I could do was pay the monthly minimum on my CC debt while the interest grew for 2 years. It sucked, but the steady payments helped improved my credit score. After I graduated and got a better job, I was able to finally pay off my the CC.
@planningwithsally8 күн бұрын
I really needed that 30 days to refocus and reflect on why I was spending the way that I was. 😅 Congratulations on getting your CC paid off! It's the best feeling in the world. 🥰

How do you not feel guilty about spending some money for yourself?
@planningwithsally14 күн бұрын
When done "correctly", I have funds set aside in a "fun funds" account that I use to cover purchases for items that are "wants". This system helps me make better choices as to if I really want that item, versus just a spur of the moment want. It has saved me from so many purchases that I would have regretted later. There have even been times where I was so close to paying off a debt that I used my fun funds to cover the remaining amount, as that "purchase / debt payment" was worth my happiness. Now, I am by no means perfect and do spend outside of my fun funds and that is where the "guilt" comes in... but I wouldn't actually refer to it as guilt, but maybe a "should have known better" and "how do I learn from this" to prevent it in the future.

I have the same stress spending problem. I’m lucky enough to have family to help with extra expenses but it’s definitely stressful right now all around. What do you look for in a budget planner?
@planningwithsallyАй бұрын
The main thing that I look for in a budget planner is SPACE! Like lots and lots of space... cause of those "spending binges" that emotional spenders tend to have. 😅 The other planners that I have tried in the past, which were made for budgeting, did not have enough space for all of my bills, which there are a ton of, and also lacked in space for expenses. This one seems to have endless space for all of my tracking needs, and it really is a gorgeous planner in person.

Are these printables or did you purchase the inserts from Hemlock & Oak?
@planningwithsallyАй бұрын
The pages that I use are the free printable version found on the Hemlock and Oak website. I have large handwriting, so I tend to gravitate towards big sized planners. Unfortunately, they only provide the preprinted inserts in their "classic size".

I have a passion planner daily on stand by if my new Erin Condren doesn’t work out. I’m planning on starting it for university in the fall. Would you recommend using pp daily for school? I’ve used one previously before I started to go back to school and liked it.
@planningwithsallyАй бұрын
You know, that's a really good question. I did not have a PP Daily when I was attending classes... but, thinking back to those days, I think it would have been the perfect sidekick for keeping all of my course assignments and academic notes all in one place (contact info for group projects, thesis ideas, books, supplies, and course payments, etc.). It's small, so it's easy to carry around, but also mighty with that additional page for each day of the week (the space of infinite possibility). Plus, with the two separate tasks lists, it would be easy to break larger assignments up into smaller tasks to avoid the dreaded procrastination. 😉

I relate so heavily to this video, to the point where I have a streak of daily pages from last month clipped together to avoid flipping through them/looking at them and remembering how blank they are. It makes me definitely feel shame and anxiety that compounds as more days pass, and knowing your alone time is never truly guaranteed is also a struggle I know all too well. Sending you good vibes for creativity and planning clarity, and hope tracking your schedule is able to help you find some peace. Thanks for your content, here and on Insta!
@planningwithsally3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the good vibes! 🥰 It's always frustrating to see those blank pages in our planners. I've learned to take them as a sign that my planning system needs updated. We change, so our planning system will also change. When this happens, I tend to go back to the basics to see what I can do to get the most out of my planner. Even though my new system is "ugly", it has been quite helpful in letting me see some flaws from my previous set-up. I was definitely overscheduling myself and the time-tracking quickly identified that issue, as there was no way possible that I could have done "all the things" in that amount of time. It really helped with the feeling of "failure" or that I had done something wrong. I'm procrastinating less and my productivity is up from a week ago. 😊

What's a washie??? Why is it always non-serious women doing planner reviews? We need some content for serious businessmen.
@planningwithsally4 ай бұрын
To answer your first question, a "washie" is a type of decorative tape that is used by planners. It can be used as pure decoration, or to make separate areas on the page. Your second question, with the assumption that I am not "serious" is quite speculative. I am very serious about my channel and create, film, edit, and upload plan-with-me videos consistently for my audience. If the inference is the result of my gender and my love of all things planner related, then I'm sorry that you feel that way. Planning provides a creative outlet and helps one gain insight into one's behaviors and thoughts, which leads to increased confidence. For your last statement, I completely agree. The planning community does need more men because I believe that a lot of men would benefit from planning: reduced depression and anxiety, and improvement in creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Maybe you could be one of the few and provide others such as yourself the type of plan with me that you are seeking. I am curious, what type of planner are you interested in and what purpose would you like it to serve? There's a wide variety out there: creative, financial, goal setting, daily tracking, fitness, marksmanship, woodworking, the list is endless.

@planningwithsally6 ай бұрын
The current version on the website is definitely an updated version. They condensed some parts of the intro, while expanding on others. The closest part that I can find to the introspection that I completed is on page 8, "You wake up to the best day ever tomorrow: what does it look like? Use the senses: smell, sound, taste, sight, touch." A quick fix for this would be to insert a notes page and complete an introspection and/or vision board. The wording on my page is, "Close your eyes. What does your ideal life look like? Imagine every detail that brings you happiness, pride, and fulfillment. What do you see, smell, hear, touch, and taste?

Yours is the first lengthy video I've come across that not only gives a flip-through, but new ideas for using the different sections that I've never thought of before. Seeing your planner also gave me ideas for how to incorporate some of the HP stickers that are in my stash. Thank you so much for this! @@planningwithsally I think it's the wording of the prompts. Some days, instead of "Today I Learned", I'll do a fun fact or something in the news. @planningwithsally7 ай бұрын
That's a very good question! It really depends on the color of the planner that you get. The one I have, which is Midnight, is a vegan leather cover. The only other color that also has a leather cover would be classic black. The other colors available (rosewood, wisteria, sequoia, secret garden, mulberry, and deep forest) appear to have a linen-cloth material cover.
