Thanks. It was fun to make. I'm doing weekly live updates for Africa Tour 2025, and I usually have some visuals going on, but it's a casual approach and is mostly me talking to the camera. Those videos are around 30 minutes, so maybe too long for your internet situation. However, I am releasing each section of the big Best of Ghana video as it's own mini video (1 per week). I hope you'll be able to watch some of those. Thanks for keeping up with me all this time. You're awesome!

I had no idea there was so much to be done in Ghana. It seems like it would take a couple weeks to get most of it done. However, from what I have observed of the Ghanaian people in your videos, it would not be difficult as the people would be helpful and pleasant. It also seems getting around in Ghana is not too difficult.

I'm sorry to say this, but I definitely don't recommend these sandals. I recently bought a pair on Jun 2024, brand new, for a 2-week trip to Thailand during the rainy season, islands trips, etc. Unfortunately, although the sandals are pretty tough, they gave me blisters all over my feet when water was involved. I had to put on a sock to tolerate the pain. Do not use this if your feet and the sandals will get wet. Also, it takes a lot of time for these sandals to dry when fully wet. Additionally, although the grip btw the sole with the ground is very good, the grip between your feet and the top part of the sole is very slippery, so you would need to really tighten your sandals if you want to feel secure. I'm honestly very disappointed considering their price. I'm going to limit their use to indoors and with a sock on my feet. If anyone has a better recommendation for a similar price range, please comment.
@ThisGalTravels
@ThisGalTravels Ай бұрын
I'm sorry you had a bad experience and that they don't suit your feet well. I'm surprised to hear that you had an issue in the water. I hiked up to a waterfall. Fully submerged them in the pool at the bottom of the falls and then hiked back down with no problems. I will agree, though, because the velcro and fabric are extra sturdy, they do take a while to dry out. I hope you have better luck with whatever you get next time. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@ThisGalTravels maybe it's my skin that is not thick enough and when moist weakens, idk. Tbh these are my first hiking sandals. When they're dry, they are perfect. But when they're wet, they sucked for me. I definitely not recommend these for beginners like me

@@ThisGalTravels I'm in Ghana and fairly new, struggling to just go and explore. Are there any places to meet other expats and any pointers to follow? Thank you 😊
@ThisGalTravels
@ThisGalTravels 2 ай бұрын
Are you in Accra? For Accra, just pick somewhere you're interested in (Google Maps is your friend) and order a Bolt (like an Uber, you'll need the app), same with Kumasi. It works in Cape Coast for the in-town bits, for anything out of town, I recommend hiring my driver friend, Junior, at +233 244 736 171. If you make it up to Tamale, I can show you around town a bit and then turn you over to my friend and guide, Abdullah +233 240 519 181 for Mole Park, or Bolgatanga, Paga and such. Ghanaians are really friendly. Give them the opportunity and you'll make friends. However, if they think you're from here, you'll get less attention - until they discover you're a traveler. As far as expat places, I can't help there. I don't generally seek out other travelers and expats. Happy to hang out if I run into any, but not a quest for me. You might try looking at the channel @ExpatLifeGhana. I think they'd be better for that kind of information. As far as pointers, Ghanaians are charmers when it comes to selling you stuff, don't go crazy on souvenirs all at once. Also, try to find out the price of things you know you're going to want to buy, or do, before you find yourself in the haggle situation. Having a target price range is really helpful. And don't be afraid to ask hotel staff for help. They're usually pretty good, or can find out if they don't know themselves (like which bus station to use for a specific destination). Let me know if you have any more questions. I'm happy to help. Oh, and akwaaba, or as they say up north, here, amaraba. Welcome to Ghana!

I think you need some correction. Where you see this new market is actually not the central market you described to exist about 20 years ago. Where you see this new market was actually the station for the commercial transport vehicles. The transport station was converted to this modern market so that those occupied the old market move away from there to this new one so that the old market can be rebuilt. The project stalled and isn't completed.
@ThisGalTravels
@ThisGalTravels 2 ай бұрын
Okay, thank you for the information. I knew it was a new location, but I never realized that they intended to rebuild the old market. I appreciate you setting me straight. This explains a lot about the layout of the market. Thanks.
