Groovy episode. Not quite planned great, but in all fairness it was your first real trip. Next time make a check list of things to do before sailing and then double check it with an experienced sailor.

Sorry but this sounds foolish to sell your house to live on the boat full time. With millions of people fighting to get into a home along with rising housing prices and interest rates, it will be even more difficult to get back into a house once you get tired of this lifestyle. Most people quit this sailing lifestyle after a few years for many reasons. Just remember that every year your boat is depreciating in value while real estate continues to go up in value. For example, say your house is worth 700K and you sell it now. Years down the road when you get sick of this lifestyle and want to go back into a house again, an equivalent house that you want to live in may cost you $1.2M and with an even higher interest rate! On top of that, you now have to pay an even higher property tax just to live in the same kind of house that you lived in before. So unless you got $10M in the bank, this lifestyle is not practical. So please DO NOT SELL YOUR HOUSE.

Sorry, you're so sympathetic people, all the four - but this is gravely irresponsible. Especially with small kids. Boat obviously far from seaworthy, you lack even the basic knowledge - and find it funny to place yourself and others into risk? Once, you may - hopefully before running into serious trouble - have enough experience and knowledge, you'll have learned, how quickly 'trouble' at sea can switch into existential threat. If you behave for yourself and your wife like drunk teenagers - your choice. But the kids....?? It's not fun wacthing this.

My friend I am begging you to take a seamanship course, your entire family's life is in your hands. I really don't believe based on this video that you understand the danger of not knowing basic things like radio operation on the sea. That alone, combined with your lack of ais puts you at tremendous risk if you are sailing into an area with a lot of traffic Please take the effort to learn in a way that does not put your family at risk before you get onto the boat full time

Sailing ANYWHERE NEAR Colin is a guarantee of something if not everything breaking on your vessel. No vessel in history ( still afloat ) has had crappier luck than Parlay. I would never step foot on that vessel , its CURSED for a Davy Jones locker ending. 😂
@david_shih
@david_shih 9 күн бұрын
Haha. Kinda true they’ve had a bunch of issues! But they’ve always come out the other side stronger! Funny thing is that once something breaks on parlay, I can pretty much count on it to break on my boat within a couple months.

It's windless as in wind your watch, not windless as in there is no wind blowing, everyone gets this wrong. There are two types of winches one that winds onto a drum and one that just dumps everything into a hold. Good luck remember it's your sails that need wind not your winch.
@david_shih
@david_shih 9 күн бұрын
Oooh that makes sense. It doesn’t wind it, it dumps it! Had no idea!

Can't understand how Jamie and Colin let you sail with no experience, without sufficient devices like AIS, which is even more important in such situation. And what were you thinking? Engine's not properly tested, Batteries broken. That's not a state for a high seas.
@david_shih
@david_shih 9 күн бұрын
well, that's why jamie came with me. but i did bring an extra set of batteries with me, so i could have changed them if it was absolutely necessary, and i had spares for everythign on the boat. the engine mounts i had no idea though...learning as we go!
