Another very professional video... I love the way you capture the long freight trains snaking round the curves and dropping out of sight.. where do you get all you're information from..? Many thanks Les.

Sorry I hadnt read this until this evening but I hope you went out. There were Class 37s on civil engineer's train coming in from Ayrshire, the Blue Pullman and Class 66 on the aviation fuel to and from Prestwick Airport

Another excellent video as Ive come to expect. I’m hoping to travel to Carlisle from Glasgow for a days spotting on the 1st of August. Is there anyone I should approach to ask for permission?
@LeslieGilpinRailwaysКүн бұрын
To be honest I wouldn't bother. There are always people spotting and taking photos. Just stick to the rules and the platform staff won't bother you (they are keen on their yellow lines). Check out RealTime Trains too for what you are likely to see, certainly on the freight side.
@Madonsteamrailways2 күн бұрын
What caused the chaos? Was there a major railway accident? Did the signal man go on strike? Was it that some criminal stole the wires? What happened?
@LeslieGilpinRailways2 күн бұрын
freight train broke down blocking the settle carlisle line for an hour or two but knock on was delays to log train and two following passenger trains. I was on one of the passenger train

As the song goes "On a clear day you can see forever…". Well, the Isle of Man anyway. As an aside, are the mountains of Snowdonia visible from the W&FJ under similar conditions? There were a lot of exotic liveries in this one, Les.

I never saw further south than Blackpool from the Furness peninsula but as a kid we often picked up Welsh TV!

@@LeslieGilpinRailways Ha ha. I just wondered. I was at a wedding in N. Ireland a few decades ago. The reception was in Newcastle, Co. Down. I was shown what appeared to be a chain of islands in the distance. Turned out what I saw was the summits of the high hills of the Isle of Man. That's what made me think Snowdon et al might be seen.

Ahoy Leslie!Another lovely video-thanks.When I took my lady & her lovely Cocker Spaniel to Seascale earlier in the summer,we couldn't see the IOM,as it was shrouded in mist,so I can now show her your filming!Been to Tonbridge Yard today(10x73s)on my way back from The Spa Vly railway(34072 + D7535).Brands Hatch on foot tomorrow(21/7)to photograph the visiting helicopters!This is all good,but I think Carlisle has the edge,so hope to be back soon,perhaps for the 50s!So take care & enjoy the lovely NW.Regards-Kentish Phil.
@LeslieGilpinRailways6 күн бұрын
I'll be honest, thats the first time I've seen Man so clearly. It is usually clouded by the sea mist.
@mikeuk41305 күн бұрын
I’m sure you meant to say, “lovely lady and her Cocker Spaniel”. I find this all-enveloping dog fad quite baffling, Phil, but your comment does show a healthy regard for, and interest in a lot of the finer things in life, so good luck to you.

What an amazing day for the trainspotter! But I can imagine it must have been a real headache for the railway staff sorting out the “confusion and delay” as the Fat controller calls it. A thought hit me while watching this. Has there ever been a day you have filmed when all trains were on time? Nice to see the black five again.
@LeslieGilpinRailways8 күн бұрын
Thanks. Most days things are pretty much to time. But they are less interesting!
