I was bagging on Marc shields video about living on the island and saw him on yours, I'm planning a trip out there hopefully in sept. octo. for the eclipse so now that I know he is a tour guide I don't want to see him, he probably won't remember me though, it was a video I viewed right before yours.

Hi there, this is amazing and the content is so useful for my upcoming trip. I was wondering, did you drive a sedan/SUV into Elephant Plains? Is a sedan/hatchback good enough for the drive into Elephant Plains?
@GoingAwesomePlaces14 күн бұрын
Yes, definitely. The roads in were certainly bumpy but it’s definitely do-able for a sedan/hatchback. We drove an SUV but think we would’ve been fine with a sedan. That said I do like that the SUV had more elevated view for animal spotting especially if you’re doing Kruger afterwards. Is it worth going here if you don't want to hike?
@GoingAwesomePlaces16 күн бұрын
I'd say so if you mean not doing the W Trek and doing other smaller hikes and mixing it up with other activities. Here's something we wrote about not doing the W Trek: goingawesomeplaces.com/why-you-shouldnt-do-the-w-trek-in-torres-del-paine/

Can we camp there in our van?
@GoingAwesomePlaces16 күн бұрын
Yes, you can stay in a campervan in Torres del Paine National Park. There are several designated areas which are essentially large parking lots and they have varying facilities.

Thank you for all these great sides! Question: is there a possibility to overnight in our van at the stargazing point?
@GoingAwesomePlaces16 күн бұрын
Yes technically you could. We saw someone parked there and when we went to stargaze, we saw them camped in a covered area (old concrete structure). There aren’t a lot of spots but you could definitely make it happen.

I like the barrier of the thermo, however, do i have to keep it one place or can i move with it and still have that roaming barrier? Like can i place it some where on a baby stroller and go walking and it provides that same barrier of protection?
@GoingAwesomePlaces24 күн бұрын
Ideally you keep it in place. The idea of this is that you want it to basically create a sphere of protection. When you move it, winds will carry it a certain way so you don't really get that full protection all around. It might give you some but it's hard to predict exactly how much.

Nice video...do u know if there is a parking lot at refugio chileno? I mean for private cars...thanks
@GoingAwesomePlaces25 күн бұрын
There isn’t a parking lot for Refugio Chileno. The reason is because this camp is on the way up to the Base of the Towers. You have to hike there from basically where Hotel Las Torres is. Parking wise, if you’re not a guest, you will be parking in the public lot that’s next to the Welcome Center. From there you walk the rest of the way up towards Refugio Chileno and then eventually up to the Base of the Towers. Hope that helps!

is the chemical in thermacell safe for humans??
@GoingAwesomePlaces25 күн бұрын
He active ingredient that Thermacell used is metofluthrin and have low toxicity and short term, they aren’t supposed to cause discomfort or irritation. They’ve been approved by health agencies because at low levels they are safe when you follow the instructions.

I'm glad you enjoyed Helsinki as much as I did, but I wonder how many ways you can misspell SUOMENLINNA in one video? LOL I can understand mis-pronuncitation, as Finnish can be difficult, but a little more attention to detail when editing and producing videos can make them even better.
@GoingAwesomePlaces28 күн бұрын
For sure! Caught that a little bit too late before hitting publish and many others have mentioned it. I mentioned it in the description down below but definitely a lesson learned from 6 years ago!

I almost went to Dogwood, but the problem is you have to make advanced reservations and we didn’t know at what time we would be there since we were on an overall road trip. I would’ve loved to. I’ve gone in and just had a quick look around, but it’s not possible.

I've travelled Shikoku back in 2020 (I could coz I was a resident) and it's great. More challenging if you do it on public transportation only though:,) I also very much recommend to not just eat Shodoshima cows but visit Shodoshima...beautiful island with a lot to see! Seto inland sea area is honestly my favourite in the whole Japan.

I was so impressed with the people I ran across that were doing it without a car! Yes, Shodoshima was on my shortlist but unfortunately ran out of time. The Seto Inland Sea is quite spectacular and I will have to come back!
