Silent Service was a fun little game. It's a lethal version of hide n seek. I mostly pllayed it 30 years ago. It doesn't hold up much today. Konami was the best publisher outside of Nintendo, with Capcom not far behind.

Dragon is a great game but not a lot of people like it. I could beat everyone except the last boss who is very cheap. Also in Super Nintendo games it feels like they trade resolution for special effects like transparency. But yeah Megadrive games look sharper side by side

I liked the Atari for two reasons: 1. Combat - vastly superior gameplay on Atari 2. The Atari joystick was far more comfortable to hold and have long gaming sessions vs. intellivision gamepad where not only was the controller awkward and imprecise, but also had this annoying telephone receiver coil cord you had constantly tugging at your controller. 3. Asrtro{bash, smash}: Paddle support made the 2600 version vastly superior IMHO gameplay trumps graphics. Besides, I had a Commie 64, so for home translations of arcade games I had a better platform which just happened to use Atari controllers. :)

Oh, I've played Atari games with a Sega Genesis controller since the 90s....the D-pad just works better than the joystick for certain games, and the Genesis controller is more comfortable and ergonomic overall. Now, the ultimate challenge is to find a friend to play either Mortal Kombat or MK II on Sega Genesis, and beat them using an Atari controller. This means you will only be able to perform low kicks/foot sweeps (unless you're Raiden and do supermans, or Johnny Cage and use shadow kicks), and only a couple fatalities will work. it makes for an interesting handicap!

The purpose of this device is for playing 2-button 7800 games with a Genesis or SMS pad. Sega pads aren’t wired properly to use both buttons. In addition the wireless Genesis pad on the 2600+ didn’t work for me. (See my 2600+ review when I had to press the button just to move.)

Im confused. Ive been using Genesis controllers for years on my Atari 2600. No adapter is required. If the same rules apply to the 7800 since its backwards compatible with 2600 that means this adapter is a $24 scam that does nothing aside from making the cord a bit longer😄

@@GregsGameRoom honestly I never tried a Sega controller on a 7800 so the adapter may serve a purpose so I was kind of half joking. But never saw the point of a 2600+ when the real 2600s are still affordable. My 40 year old 2600 Junior works perfectly first try everytime. But maybe the 2600+ thingy needs the adaptor if people choose to have the ➕

Are you going to do a bespoke episode on your thoughts on emulation? My gaming collection sits on a shelf now, as I play classic games on my CRT through SBCs (Pi3B+, XU4, Rockchip based systems) with high quality controllers like the FANTASTIC 8bitdo SN30. It's so much more convenient to have all of the libraries at my fingertips, and even FPGA systems don't match modern emulation performance and features. I don't think the mini systems count, either, sound and input lag on every one I've tried makes serious gaming on them an unacceptable experience. I'd be glad to share my curated ROM collection and software for the above-mentioned platforms, if you're at all curious. Thank you as always for the great content :)

The Mega 7800 adapter is wonderful for playing 7800 games with Sega Master System controllers. The Master System controller has no microcontroller chip. It's just direct wires going to each of the 9 pins. As such, it's super easy to build a real microswitch joystick and two buttons into a project box and have it work on a real Sega Master System and with the Mega 7800, also a real 7800 and 2600, C64 etc. The 7800 has some really great games and deserves a good controller to play over the Pro-Line and now increasingly rare and expensive Europad that still isn't as good as an actual Master System controller.

It’s easy to mod a Genesis controller for full SMS compatibility. All you have to do is open it up and clip the gray wire that’s going to the buttons. This will make it work even on the few SMS games that don’t like Genesis controllers, like Alien Syndrome.

For Choplifter (7:42) on the C=64, you have a hacked version of some sort that increases the difficulty of the game enormously. Regardless, the NES version is certainly better. I remember this game on the C=64, and blowing up tanks was pretty easy. Most of the time you got killed, it was because you waited too long on the ground trying to collect POWs.
