I can imagine some younger viewers watching this and thinking "600 hp? big deal. A Dodge Hellcat makes over 700hp". Thank you for the detailed description above, which made me GASP when I read that this 600 hp engine creates over 31000 ft lbs of torque!!!!! That's enough power to toss a dozen Hellcats clear over the horizon lol.

Awesome video! I shot slides of this locomotive being delivered in Cranford, NJ on the Staten Island Rapid Transit at Cranford Junction brand new in November 1978 in that yellow scheme going to Con Ed in Staten Island.

@TimSmith-vl4qk Usually not, Usually a car will have a reverse gear. On a Lanz Bulldog tractor, you literally reverse the engine to change the direction of the tractor.
