Herbie was one of the first real jazz guys I began to explore around the mid-1970s. I love some of his music such as Maiden Voyage. His later crack-inspired fusion felt cold. So glad he saw the light and got away from that garbage, crack, not fusion.

This group in particular re-invented funk-soul. It's very particular in the timing and label. I try to samle it but that is disrespectful and difficult because the musicians are impeccable.

Each of them must have been surrounded by green screens. Really creative work in the production department that perfectly set off the long-form funkadelia eminating from some of the HEAVIEST cats imaginable.
