Thanks for posting. It's interesting how you use a lot of engine braking to bleed off speed. I think this video addresses some of my previous questions. It's particularly interesting watching how you take different cornering lines, and how you use engine braking to scrub off speed. When you do actually apply brakes here, you're using both front and rear about equal right? I'm hoping you'll post videos of commutes in traffic in the future. This was a great ride. It definitely makes me aspire to getting competent enough to go out on these scenic nature roads!

Your speedometer cable come lose
@HalfMoonMotorcycles28 күн бұрын
It actually ended up being a broken speedometer gear at the front wheel! Ironic you mentioned it, it’s actually a video that’s coming out tomorrow! Speedometer gear diagnostic. I checked the cable, functioning and not broken. Checked both ends, both connected. Found out when the bike was pushed the speedometer gear wasn’t moving with the wheel, it had actually broken internally. Had to order the part as no local part available of course, 83$ component and it’s back working 100%!
@HalfMoonMotorcycles29 күн бұрын
Yes, I’m going to make a part 2 and I’ll go into these questions ! Great questions! Yes I use the friction zone in almost every gear to ease into the gear , I don’t usually “bang “ the gears just let clutch out consistently but slower. I’ll make a video tomorrow for you!
@CubertEtc29 күн бұрын
Great, I look forward to part 2. Thanks! Another thing that gets me is change in elevation. On my commute to work, I'm in my car visualizing what I'd do in a motorcycle. Like when I get to a intersection, I look extra carefully for oncoming turning vehicles. Another thing that gets me is changes in elevation. There's a very step downhill curve coming off the highway that ends at a stoplight intersection...that is really confusing on how I should handle it. Thanks again for the replies, and for making these videos.

@@CubertEtcI’ll answer this in the video with a demonstration! It will be uploaded today or tomorrow !
@CubertEtc29 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Do you ever clutch in while in something other than first gear? Like, while in second gear, could you clutch in to use the friction zone to control speed? Also, when you slow down, do you usually cycle down through each gear like you demonstrate at 15:22 or could you clutch in, and as you come to stop, shift down multiple times until you get to first? Finally, what speeds do you get to before shifting to the next gear? Thanks, I have so many questions. Your videos are very inspiring. They make me want to get on my TU and go practice.
@HalfMoonMotorcycles29 күн бұрын
I would recommend shifting through each gear as you’re approaching a light, I wouldn’t ever skip a gear. It could cause the rear wheel to lock up or skid because the rpm’s don’t match the gear. I’ll make a part two for you my friend.
@CubertEtc29 күн бұрын
@@HalfMoonMotorcycles For shifting multiples, I meant like, could I come to a complete stop in like, third gear. Then just bump the shifter down until I hit first?

Thank you very much for posting this. I'm new to motorcycling and just got a 2012 Tu250x. I've been practicing skills in a parking lot after taking the MSF course. For me, the confusing part is coordinating all the different steps, as when coming to a stop. Your POV video is great for seeing how you navigate different traffic situations (like those crazy roundabouts), and how coordinate all the controls each one. I'm also picking up tips, like how you make ample use of the blinkers. Thanks again for sharing. I hope you post more.

Hey wait a minute, your right, I just walked out to my bike and even with a push no speedo, I may have a broken cable….thank you, will update in a day or so when I figure out the exact issue. Symptoms in case anyone knows off hand: I brought the bike out from winter, fueled it up, reset trip odo, and off I went. After a bit of research I read the winter can either freeze the cable and cause deterioration and or have water in the rubber which will cause cable to rust. Thanks again, will update soon.
