Her comeback at Fox was not a failure. She signed a 2-picture contract and both pictures were successful, but she then voluntarily quit doing films.

Why no mention of Dame Mae Fishman? film actress who became famous alongside her friends Charlie Chaplin and Mabel Normand. She distanced herself from the Hollywood limelight and lived alone, but her peers still remembered her fondly. Ronald Reagan, another actor, called her the best actress of his time. Fishman died in 1981, and her legacy continues to inspire aspiring actors. She is an iconic figure who symbolizes an unforgettable era in film history.

One of the most beautiful women to ever live. Sad the way she was used by Hollywood and all the famous people she came in contact with. Raised in so many different orphanages and probably raped and molested at young age and had no parental guidance from a Mother or Father and no love growing up. She needed someone who truly loved her and cared for her to always be there with her and guide her but she did not have that. We will never truly know if she took her own life or was murdered.

Their close friendship was not a mere onscreen illusion; it was very real. After appearing in a film with John Wayne while Stan Laurel was briefly too sick to work, Oliver Hardy was offered essentially a new solo career as Wayne’s partner in future films. He simply responded, “I’m sorry, but I already have a partner” and resumed working with Stan. Less than a decade later, when Oliver died, Stan retired and refused to work alone or with a new partner; thus, he never stood on a stage or in front of a film camera again. ❤
