The beauty is that each tent is a "blank canvas" to style as one likes. If we had our new bell tent rugs when we shot this, we certainly would have added one: www.lifeintents.com/collections/bell-tent-rugs-and-mats

So do you have to take the flashing apart again to fold up the tent when you’re done.
@Brandylamb
@Brandylamb 5 ай бұрын
Good question. We've left a stove flashing on, and folded up the tent without an any major issue. The ring that secures the flashing to the tent will likely become bent in a few places through from when the tent is rolled up, and the silicone hold will become awkwardly shaped - but the flashing still worked. After repeated use and folding the tent up with it on, the flashing will probably become a bit compromised though. So, yes you can keep it on. However, to get extra life out of it, we'd take it off if you have the time. Removal / replacement is easier to do now that our stove jack flashing kit comes with wing nuts.

what about rodent controll?
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents 9 ай бұрын
This can be a challenge for some locations. Of course NOT storing food / beverage in a tent is the primary suggestion. Then store linens in strong containers when not in use. Also, follow other typical suggestions: seal up any holes, regularly laying down/spraying rodent deterrent, install rodent traps, raise your tent off the ground (with a platform) or lay down crushed rock around and under the tent, and keep your camp kitchen away from the tent.

What about the stove jack
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents 10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the stove jack won’t work with this cover, as it is not made of a fire retardant material (at least we can’t endorse using one with this). Alternatively one would exit the stove out the wall by making a custom exit point.

How long in real time to set up? First time and after a few times..🙏🏻
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents 10 ай бұрын
First time takes about 30 minutes or so if you've never set-up a bell tent before (it takes time to get familiar with everything). Plus you will need to tie on the guy line ropes (they won't need to be removed after that). After a little experience, you'll be able to set up in 15 minutes. 20 minutes on average.

Wall poles aren't set right
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents 10 ай бұрын
Can you share what you see as being incorrect so that we can help to clarify anything? The top of the wall poles get inserted through the grommets, and feet are simply set on the ground. Uneven ground might cause some poles to look uneven. This image also is useful when using the poles and guy line ropes: drive.google.com/file/d/1-BX3AUeqQEreCnviD3HbxBeuIybYQEzC/view?usp=sharing

Ground sheet rings which are which one???:the metal ring or fabric ring And why do people think this is a good video, confusing as to which ring I am putting the pegs
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents 11 ай бұрын
The metal D-rings are what the groundsheet pegs go through. The fabric ring is there to help keep the zippers covered so rain doesn't get into the tent. The fabric bungees can be attached to the groundsheet pegs to keep the canvas flaps held down to cover the zippers.

Any advice for driving stakes into hard ground? Any alternatives? Or options on concrete for pop up display for festivals?
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents Жыл бұрын
For pegging tents on super hard and rocky ground grab some Galvanized Spike Nails from a hardware store (they're 8-12 inches long). For tent setup on concrete, we will have an article on this in a month - but you'll want 35 lb weights for each guy line (logs, cinder blocks, planters, sand bags, etc). Before setting the tent up, anchor all the ropes with one of the weights, but allow slack. Insert the center pole and door pole and then readjust the ropes and floor.

The handsome lad who put this up needs some lessons in his erection. The guy ropes need to follow the line of the seam, and should be much shorter than he made them - the greater the length the greater the chance of tripping over. Also, put in the guy for the door apex first, followed by the ones either side of the door. Then do the one at the back, directly opposite the door. All should be left tight enough to pull the fabric without being able to "twang" them. Next peg out the rest, again without tension. Try to make get them all the same distance from the edge of the tent. Only the door peg should be further out than 2m (6' 6"), the rest don't need to be any further out than 1.5m (5'). Once all guys are pegged out carefully tension up the front and back guys, followed by the door guys. After that, check the the centre pole is perpendicular with the ground, not vertical according to gravity. this is important, as the tent may be on a slope and so the pole needs to be as well. If all is as it should be, proceed to tension the guy to one side of the door, followed be the guy on the opposite at the back, and the one next to it, followed by it's opposite at the front, and so on. Care should be taken to always tighten the second one of the pair slightly more. It seems like a lot of faffing about, but the result will be a tight erection capable of taking a battering should the weather be less than clement.

can this be set up on a wood deck (no canvas floor) and be relatively resistant to air (wind) coming up from the floor sides?
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents Жыл бұрын
One could remove the floor and do what you suggest, however there are some things to consider. Of course if there are gaps in the deck, this will allow air in, therefore you’d lose some insulation. Also, the tent floor of our tents has D-rings that are used to secure the floor in place before adding the center pole. Removing the floor would eliminate this built-in support. However the canvas walls do have bungee rings along the outside that could be used to secure the tent to the deck. These rings might have a chance of failing though in higher winds.

nice... but what do you do when you're camping in warmer weather, and you don't need the stove? Does that jack fold down onto itself, so the flap can cover the hole?
@LifeinTents
@LifeinTents Жыл бұрын
Yes, the stove jack can collapse inward to that you can cover the hole with the canvas. One could also remove the bolts and the flashing to allow the jack cover to seal perfectly again.

Your construction is the best I have seen! Especially the pole system of two seperat wodden parts stick together with metal is great and so is that you cann zip up the whole wall for better ventilation and not only the small windows. Higher wall supported by extra poles is also nice.
