I have no intention to roll my own cigars, but I like these videos because they help me appreciate all the work that went into making my cigars that I enjoy!
Sorry, I meant to determine the head and foot of cigars when making them
@BlissCigarCo4 сағат бұрын
All the leaves are aligned in the same direction, and the roll--both the binder and the wrapper--start at the tip of the leaf, and that is the foot. The roll ends near the base of the leaf, and that is the end where the head is.
@prolive36139 сағат бұрын
how to choose the foot and head when making cigars?
@mehmetfatihylmaz8017 сағат бұрын
After you start rolling the cigar, the side where the glue is applied is the head.
@mehmetfatihylmaz8017 сағат бұрын
At this point, it is important in which direction the leaf should be wrapped. As you watch the videos you will understand which direction is correct.
@mehmetfatihylmaz8017 сағат бұрын
At the 15th minute, the binder explains which direction is correct when wrapping the sheet. At the 27th minute, the packaging explains how the leaf should be directed. So, you wrap all the leaves diagonally and when you complete the wrapping process, the part where the glue is applied becomes the head.

Did you make that Cigar cutter/measuring contraption yourself? Sorry for my lack of knowledge on what its called.
@BlissCigarCoКүн бұрын
No, it's a standard cigar factory cutter, called a tuck cutter (because it cuts the end off where I tuck the leaf under at the beginning of the wrap). They can be bought newish for around $350, but there are also a lot of antique semi-functional ones on Ebay for a lot less.

The variety of tobacco never ceases to amaze me. I'm a pipe smoker, smoke the occasional cigar. I like pipe tobaccos with Virginias and Perique's. Do cigars ever use these tobaccos or are they not used because of the burn rate or flavours?
@BlissCigarCo3 күн бұрын
Generally speaking those aren't used. Virginia's for cigs and perique's for pipe blends. BUT I know people who roll those things into their own sticks, and I think I've seen commercial cigars with perique. I myself have a couple pounds of the stuff and I mix it in there occasionally just to see what happens. It's really strong though.
@lolocaust49672 күн бұрын
@@BlissCigarCo Ah, interesting. Yes I've always wondered this. Never really looked much into what tobaccos are used for cigars. I guess it's a much different experience to a pipe so different blends work better. Yes Perique's can be quite overpowering. I often use pipe tobaccos that use it more as an additive for a particular flavor profile. It can be very nice if blended right. There are some blends that are more Perique heavy but they have a reputation for "ghosting" a pipe, as in once that flavor is introduced to a pipe it's often impossible to remove it and you'll taste it forever. I don't mind Latakia's either, I've seen those blended into some cigars, be interesting to try one.
@BlissCigarCo2 күн бұрын
@@lolocaust4967 Yeah it's hard to say why pipes and cigars typically use different tobaccos. In the case of cigs and cigars the tobacco is a totally different PH, which is why cigs are inhaled and pipes aren't.

You’re videos are great advertisement for the hobby, I’m a younger guy and not a lot of my generation are into cigars, I’ve been an off and on cigar smoker for the last 7 years ever since I turned 18 really. I’m afraid that hand rolling cigars is a dying art, but your videos have inspired me to start rolling my own and I’ll be ordering a kit from leaf only tobacco soon to start rolling them myself. In the meantime I’ll be soaking up your content like a sponge learning everything I can, thanks for putting your knowledge out here for us.
