If you buy it on sale, you are still paying less, and giving them less profit, but more importantly paying less. I try to only buy things that I need on sale, or I just wait if possible for the next sale. Full price is a rip.

Samantha, I'm so glad you are learning this (coz I want you to get a house of your own too!) and sharing with your community. I'm 60, so you are preaching to the chior here, but for your subscribers in their 20s and 30s, this is a SUPER important topic on so many levels: consumerism, personal budgeting, environmental impact, decision making, personal growth, big-picture visualisation, need i go on. This is a big topic, but you managed to keep it on track and get across the salient points beautifully. Whilst I know you are probably an extremely valued member of the MECCA team, I think you're wasted there. You were born to be an influencer/entrepreneur, girl! You're such a natural and my hopes for you is that you get the recognition you deserve, that your channel goes viral, and you get the house of your dreams ❤...

Fabulous video on this topic. You can rant all you want, because I agree with you. I almost never buy anything from Priceline or Chemist Warehouse unless there's a sale. I do like that, for example, The Ordinary is never on sale at Priceline, but once a year, they have a sale on their website and that's when I buy what I use from them to last me a year.

The blush ended up looking good...nice blush draping effect toning in with the eyeshadow. I have seen this sasles marketing ploy so often and for so long. There is always a sale....the various retailers are on rotation for who sells what brand at half price. If you cant get there or you forget to buy it online....thats totally fine...just wait a day or so. For younger people the waiting part is the hardest part...life is so instant now (which can be wonderful) but we are walking down a path that has what end? Im 49 and I have a 13 and 14 year old girls....they were born in the iphone era. Nothing appears out of their reach...intant grasp...except the things that matter like financial security....funny about that. I bought my first house at 25 years old. My parents actually bought their first house in their 30's. When a crappy 2 bed unit sells for $1M what are our kids going to do? I'm now working on getting my retirement right so as we can live in security. I'm following this forward by preparing for my childrens secure future....it is a lot....a really big lot.

There’s nothing like a mortgage to change your spending habits. I’ve never been a big consumer. I bought my first house, was not flash, when I was 20.

I really enjoyed this video... so many things rung true for me :) It's nice to find creators who strike that balance between loving and celebrating the good things in their life and trying to get the most value out of their purchases. Revolution Beauty also does the constant sales (on their online site, I haven't seen many sales in Priceline). Marking up to mark down is so common... I shop around for just about everything because so many people do it and I want to get a feel for what the true 'original' price is - you just can't believe so many people these days. I run a small business too, if you ship globally marking up to mark down is against the law in a lot of places... I think people rely on not getting caught. Only last week I was looking at items that said they were $200 off on one web site (original price about $500)... and the sale price in one store was the regular price in another.

Been there. Kept buying makeup and skincare and then had way too much. Went minimalism and it was life changing. I always think how many hours and energy do I need to do to pay for.this. Items equal money equal time equal energy.

Omg yes agree wholeheartedly. I am so disillusioned with the whole sale cycles that I just ignore them now.

30 years ago, I used to work in a Department store and we had 150-200% mark up on stock. So even when we had sales of 70% off, we still made a profit.

It’s most likely the sunscreen breaking you out. I know for me, not a lot irritates my skin or causes me breakouts (except for hormonal ones sometimes). But certain sunscreens will break me out. So if I were you, I’d stop using the sunscreen first to see if it’s that. But I know you said you already stopped using the other. But thought I’d mention it. Anyways, hi from the US! 😊 Great topic for a video! “The real treat is financial stability. That’s the real treat!” Girl YES!!! I had my son at 19. I’ve been a single mom doing it myself the whole time without any child support or anything. We struggled. I worked multiple jobs - he didn’t always have what he wanted, but he definitely always had what he needed! I worked my butt off to put myself through school. It took me 10 years to get a 4 year degree (bachelors in nursing) 🤦♀️ but I stuck with it! I’m glad I did because doing that and being able to get a better paying job than working multiple minimum wage jobs really made a difference for my son and I! I always think carefully about my purchases and do tons of research before buying. Thankfully, I’m really cool toned and muted and know what shades work for me, and that really limits my options 😂 so it helps save me money and from FOMO 😂😂 But, I’ve also had the mentality for so long of not treating myself to things, even when I do have a little extra money, I always find it hard to spend money on myself. Whenever I see brands doing sales multiple times back to back, I’m like yeah, that makes sense. Brands aren’t there to help us save money, to help us get what we want. They aren’t like oh, we know times are tough for people so we are going to do lots of sales. Nope. They are all about profit. It’s like you said, they hike the prices up and if people buy at those prices, great. But, if they don’t, they do sales and people feel they’re getting a deal when they’re just paying regular price and the brand is still making massive profit!
@debedwards17172 күн бұрын
I never pay full price for anything anymore. Between Woolies, Coles, Priceline and Chemist Warehouse, I can always find a 50% off sale. And the prices are still a bit high in my opinion.
@ellenhazelton88722 күн бұрын
I ignore sales- they aren't real. I know something will be on sale when I need it, so I rarely buy things 'full price', unless I need/want it NOW. In my younger days, after Christmas sales, end of financial year sales were a BIG DEAL. Huge excitement, people talked about it, planned for it. We felt like we got a good deal & and we were so happy when we did. The fun has definitely gone out of the sale.

Great beauty round up, Sam. I've Got to try the MCoBeauty body butter. I have the 3 minis of the Sol de Janeiro in a tin from Mecca and I'm OBSESSED with all of them! I doubt the MCoBeauty will be as lush, but I'm on a bee line for it 😂. The Oxx "dupe" is in the packaging only, which was to be expected, frankly. I was so glad you mentioned Tanika. I've been wondering where she went! Keep checking her KZfaq every week or so, but she's not posting. I miss her, but now I know she's over on Tik Tok and Instagram. So thank you xx

First of all, love this lipstick shade 😍 looking forward to your drugstore rant!! It’s absolutely insane how crazy prices are and although I love a good sale, now it’s not worth buying unless there’s a sale and even then it’s just to get it at a decent price not a bargain price. I found the mco lip liner at big w recently. I think it’s a dupe of a stila lip liner….? Love hearing you talk about fragrance too, you’re so knowledgeable!! And the mascara, omg!! Yes Maybelline have a burgundy one, who knows when we’ll get it but you can probably get it in beauty bay…? I also have the new benefit one so will try and share my thoughts soon!! Loved the vid xx

Thank you for this video. I have just transitioned to natural grey hair and thought it was time to update all my make up choices and start from scratch but wanted natural ingredients, cruelty free brands and wanted to support Australia. I was so shocked and surprised when I started to research and look at what brands were Australian made now (not easy to find) and were not made in the ROC and were natural, cruelty free etc. I am really grateful for the work you have put in.

@@samanthaizundu Thank you again. It does get even harder with mature skin in your late 50's as many mineral and powder options can sit in your skin creases. I also ordered some samples of Inika foundation to try. :-)

I think your great and refreshing but I would understand revlon and L'Oréal being priced at $40 over mco beauty. Mco beauty started off a super market brand but there foundations are $40 before sale.??? So I don't understand your frustration/rant (lol) Do enjoy your content.
@samanthaizundu6 күн бұрын
No I agree with you…all these brands including mco beauty are pricing their products very high and then only making them affordable at 50%off. I think my point is that they shouldn’t be up charging so much. It’s a marketing tool to make us feel like we are getting a good deal when in fact the sale price should be the regular price. Many brands are guilty of this.
