I think Auburns offense is gonna be straight nasty this season even if you don’t include Perry Thompson in the discussion at all. To me anything he adds is just a bonus. RBs, Hunter and Fairweather plus just Coleman means KLS, Lewis and Burton gonna be wide open all season which is how it plays out in the CFB 2025 sims.

I have the impression that HB spends as much or more time on film and preparation than ANY of the 4 QBs on the roster.

Julio Jones freshman, 58 receptions, 924 yards. Don't count Perry Thompson out. QB's? Nice discussion but I'd like to see the practice numbers because Hank has only had 9 throws against a subbed out Maryland defense that had the game in hand. Holden was the QB the receivers wanted throwing to them at Auburn's pro day. Yeah, some are gamers, but age/seniority matter when the physical ability isn't obviously different. We have a decent RB room but pump the brakes. Cribbs, Brooks, Andrews. Bo, Agee, Jesse, Fullwood, Evans. Joseph, Danley, Ware. Carnell, Ronnie, Brandon Jacobs. Irons, Lester, Stewart, Smith. We are RBU. I'm sure the Tucker Fredrickson group was good too, but before my time. Although Sedrick McIntyre, Wallace Clark, and Micky Zofko were good in their time. Keep us updated on practice and thanks for the show!

A big difference between the first few practices last year and so far this year is that last year there was a whole lot of chatter that went, "There were a lot of dropped balls but it is the beginning of practice. Hopefully it'll get better." It did not.

@pickesc18 сағат бұрын
I would say that Auburn has possibly not had a back as dominating and physical as any of the three metioned; Ronnie Brown, Cadillac, and Brandon Jacobs. Cadillac being the best with technique but seemed like Brown and Jacobs were more physcial. Brandon Jacobs was the type of back you could use like a Derrick Henry. Henry was possibly the main reason Bama won the Iron Bowl and i believe a natty that year as he would just pound you til you relented. Tre Mason is prob the best and most exciting back Auburn has had since that group as he was a joy to watch and I wish we would have had the chance to see just how successful he could have been. Also if he doesn't stay up on that open field tackle in 2013 and goes down Auburn runs more clock and wins the Natty. Too much time left. But you are told to score when you can. Still a magical season.

My opinion,Holden is #2 because of his accuracy and maturity. Why? Because we’ll be running a ton of RPO with PT,and we’ve seen his wheels. Running QB’s have a tendency to get injured. I think they want some accuracy and maturity behind PT in case injury happens,especially if it’s early in the season. Maybe coach HF isn’t comfortable throwing HB into the fire, putting the season on his shoulders and wrecking his confidence if PT goes down. So maybe Holden makes the most sense there.Just a guess….

PT can turn an ankle and miss a couple games. The next guy up has to be the best option for this year, regardless of eligibility status. Guys have to be prepared for this season. Worry about next season next offseason.

One can say that Alston got the second team reps is because Cobb was a freshman. But now he has a year of experience and a full year of workouts. But both of them are excellent choices. Gonna be a 2a and 2b situation.

Georgia will have to replace Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the X position, along with Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers. Think about that. They had three of their top pass catchers get drafted. I'm sure they put a few running backs into the league as well last draft as well as O lineman (not part of this discussion but just as necessary). This is what it takes to compete for championships.
@moeller01321 сағат бұрын
2013 RB room was NASTY!! Tre had 1816 yards Grant had 647 and CAP had 610. The trio averaged 6.5 yards per carry with over 3000 yards combined. Plus Nick Marshall with over 1000 himself. Greatest rushing team in CFB history imo.

I believe Holden is 2nd only because he has seniority over Hank. Hank has shown much more awareness of his surroundings and the defense he’s facing.
@22busy4322 сағат бұрын
All the hype around Hank Brown is based on two passes. Holden out performed Hank in the spring game. Holden dropped a dime to the end zone that the DB made a great play on. If the DB didn’t make that play the narrative would be different.
@autk21 сағат бұрын
That's just not the Facts at all, and you conveniently left out the real football game...MCB where Hank was lights out...hype is based on real performance and anyone who can't see that the best pass of the day at A Day was Hank to Cam, you need glasses...guess you forgot about Hank's last drive for the field goal, with no time making quick decisions and moving his team like a senior. I don't get the hate.
@user-ii7mx9bp6b22 сағат бұрын
Alston was AU's best RB early last year before he hurt his shoulder. He's very patient in letting things develop in front of him, which Hunter had problems with early. Freeze even mentioned that early in the season, then Hunter self-corrected and was great down the stretch. Alston reminds me of Emmitt Smith with his running style.
