Little Free Library in a train station; that is an excellent idea! We would love to explore that downtown area. Those old train cars are cool. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.

Did you know that in the Meridian Civil War On February 3, 1864, Union soldiers began the campaign “to break up the enemy’s railroads at and about Meridian, and to do the enemy as much damage as possible in the month of February, and to be prepared by the 1st of March to assist General [Nathaniel] Banks in a similar dash at the Red River country.” When Sherman’s men arrived in Meridian on February 14, they immediately began prying up the railroad tracks, leaving only Sherman’s Neckties in their wake. They completed their objective and returned to Vicksburg by March 6. It took the Confederates 26 days to restore the rails.

Yeah in times of war railroad tracks are easy targets to weaken an enemy, bridges too!

If you would have went further down on that road you would have seen the 3rd one which was the caboose with the number M&B 106

The Meridian & Bigbee Railroad Company was the reorganized name for the Meridian & Bigbee River Railway, originally incorporated in 1917. By 1928 the River shortline had built east from Meridian, Mississippi, across the state line eastward to Cromwell, Alabama, and was later completed to Myrtlewood by 1935. In 1933, a trustee was appointed to manage the line, and it was not until 1942 that the company was reorganized under its more familiar name. In the diesel era, the 51-mile shortline was owned by the James River Corporation and moved pulp, chemicals, and paper products. Enginehouse was at Meridian. Currently owned by the Genesee & Wyoming shortline system, who purchased it in 2005, the line has been reorganized as the M&B Railroad, with reporting marks MNBR. The current shortline stretches 168 miles through Linden and Selma, Alabama, as far east as Burkville, with trackage rights into Montgomery. The eastern end of this longer shortline is former Louisville & Nashville trackage purchased by G&W. The line now carries aggregates, agricultural products, chemicals, forest products, pulp and paper, metallic ores, and mineral products. Several points of interchange are mainted: with Alabama & Gulf Coast Railway (Linden, Al); with Burlington Northern Sante Fe (Linden, Al); with CSX Transportation (Montgomery, Al); with Kansas City Southern (Meridian, Ms); with Norfolk Southern (Meridian, Ms and Selma, Al).

The Meridian & Bigbee River Railway [was] granted a charter on January 23, 1917 to "construct a railroad from Meridian, Mississippi to the Tombigbee River" and so let a contract on December 24, 1926 to construct this railroad. Work was begun and on April 16, 1928 the road was put in operation from Meridian to Cromwell, Alabama, a distance of 29.87 miles to a connection with the Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railroad. After many years of trials and further tribulations this road was completed from Cromwell to Myrtlewood, Alabama, crossing the Tombigbee River and connecting with the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, and put into full operation on October 15, 1935.

We love Tennessee! Great tour of the room. Love that you made a pit stop at buc-ee’s!! Our new fav road trip stop haha! Nice tour of the hotel too. Lots of seating around the pool. Nice that breakfast is included. However despite that there are some pros - I would be horrified by stains 😂 it would gross me out the rest of my stay lol. Stains on the carpet, pillows and blankets is a lot lol. A dirty washcloth?! Oh no!! Great honest review!
@PrimeTimeTravelersКүн бұрын
Yeah the hotel had some things that we didn't notice right away but we had stayed there a few times before with no issues. At least it was only one night as we passed thru back from Ohio to Florida.
