Ugh. I remember that well. Was living on Winchester at the time, and I can recall myself and my flatmate Andy frantically trying to help Charlie save as much as possible. Very sad to see.

Shameful. And these are NOT human beings. Cruelty to animals is just unforgivable in any form. Something needs to be done to save this elephant and punish those who participate in this ongoing cruelty. SO SAD :(

This is horrendous! The elephant looks terrible and these people are oblivious to it's poor condition and giving it coins?? REALLY?? Would you do that to your dog or cat?? Here's another elephant that needs to be saved as Sunder and Raju were. ALL temple Elephants and zoo Elephants MUST be sent to sanctuaries!! This will go viral and this elephant WILL be saved!!

I got a kick out how many of the women wore hats. There used to be many millinery shops throughout Chicago, today it would be hard to find one. I was surprised to see a bowling alley on Randolph Street. There are just a few of them left today,too.

Dear NLM: yes, the comments posted indicate something we hope is becoming as quickly utdated as the notion that Chicago is exclusively an Al Capone town. But calling someone a "racist piece of shit" doesn't really help the cause out, does it? If anything it shows that you're just as capable of sinking to the same level of reactionary, knee-jerk politics. I don't know...think about it, perhaps? Although this specific case calls for a strong reaction, you do yourself (and your cause) disservice
