i start running 2 years ago and my first 5k is 30 minutes, no idea with my heart rate. in less than 6 month i can run 5k under 25 minutes, my pr was 21minutes. My legs and lungs feel effortless running 5k under 25 minutes so i think it is okay to get faster. One day me and my friends doing 15x400, no problem in training. But the problem come at night when i was going to sleep, i cant sleep 3 days straight in a row😂. Decided to going to check up and find out my HR was fukin high, 92 while just sitting and going up to aerobic zone by just walking 5kmph. I bought a smartwatch and start MAF training 2 weeks later. 1 whole year of maf training anf i get a jackpot, able to run 5k under 18 minutes with low heart rate. From 202bpm to 180 in max effort, and way morr effortless running my easy runs

Love the vid, BUT the title is dangerous because, this is not the truth for everybody. You guys gotta stop taking the positive away from ppl with these titles, without giving it a balance, or the tables will turn. Every result doesn't fit EVERY person. You gotta give them a better edge than what your title says, because it can be misleading. Glad you explained it in your video, but the title can drain a person's mentality and confidence alone, just by reading it. Some titles are exactly what the vide9 is about. To beat ppl down. AGAIN, love this vid by the way, so pardon me, because ppl should be strong regardless, but that's a difficult task for us good folk. Evil ppl think all this hard work stuff is easy to do. They're Idiots. 😂 And you are a good guy, clearly; That's why I spoke on it. You explained it well. You weren't saying don't or it can't be done, you explained the wellness of it, and the mental drain it could have.

@motivationtheoryrunning
@motivationtheoryrunning 2 күн бұрын
@traveler7348 nope getting back into it you have to start over and slow build back into it. Walk run is the way to go power hiking mixed with slow running. Like running 1 min and walking 5 or so and just do that for however long you wish…3-4 times a week for a month getting back into it. Increasing your run/walk ratio as needed.

Because the younger ones are flocking to Tic Tok. I like things that are a bit longer and have some sort of substance to them in the long run. Just so many short mindless blurbs that I can tolerate. I have some videos, although it's really for my own entertainment and 'legacy'. May help some others in the same situations, may be boring as hell. I just do it because I like to. I am approaching retirement, so I need to do something to keep me busy.... I started my channel many years ago to keep videos that I didn't want to get lost when my phone died.

Running slows metabolism, strength training increases metabolism. I herd that on 'Everyday Ultra Podcast' with Joe Corcione the other day. It seems as though it would be the opposite.

Yeah, I’m definitely mixing it a little bit more higher intensity running which has helped and weightlifting. Running a lot of low slow miles I don’t think helps lol

Have a look at what you eat. The nutrition needs to stay the same as when younger but the calories need to drop a little. Basically, the quality of what you eat has to be way better than when younger. As a 60yr old runner I can tell you that every decade a set point seems to shift and the weight sneaks on. The only solution is to review what you’re eating and upgrade its quality and eat a managed quantity. The odd blowout, like a birthday, doesn’t do harm but any more frequent than monthly sneaks on the pounds.

John, super to see you finally put this recap together, great stuff 👍 Fantastic job by both of you, especially after what had occurred the year before, you're emotions must have been through the roof. This comes at a good time for me and has added to my motivation of achieving the 100 mile mark myself, one day, in the near future. After having struggled for the past 3 years with long covid, I'm finally back on track, following a training plan, running on a regular basis, and getting stronger by the week.

Such a great accomplishment for You and Joe. A great day to go for a really long run!!! I know Joe is healed and doing well. You looked amazing at the end of race. Both of you fought off the hardships that come along with ultra running. It does hurt. I did a trail marathon back in May and it hurt for a while. I can only imagine the pain of going 100 miles. I was hurting after my JFK race just as much. Great work on the video John. Sound, editing and commentary. Very well done my friend.
